The article is about killing excess kangaroos in Australia. I wish they’d do the same to mustangs overgrazing the western US. And while I have no desire to hunt deer, the folks I know who do EAT them.
Trophy hunting isn’t something I’d ever want to do, but the economics can give a local population a reason to CONSERVE animals that would otherwise be killed off as competition to their livestock.
Sure, rich trophy hunters probably help the local economy. so do the pedophiles who prey on kids. Both are sick puppies and the fact they drop big bucks that benefit the locals doesn’t change the fact that I, personally, think that what gets them off is subhuman. I like elk and venison, and pests are pests; but shooting something beautiful just to mount a head or a skin? Messed up person as far as I’m concerned. OTOH if it’s legal what the hell does my opinion matter?
