Professional Hunters Driven Down by Regulation, Fees in Australia

Commercial hunters are the stuff of legend. Scottish Karamojo Bell harvested elephants for ivory in Africa at the turn of the century. American Billy Dixon made the famed long shot with a buffalo rifle to stop the attack on Adobe Walls.  Norwegian Per Jonsson harvested 165 polar bears on Halfmoon Island near Svalbard, Norway, in two years in 1969-71.

Increasing human populations and agriculture have reduced the potential for commercial hunting. Australia is a place where commercial hunters survive. Australia is a continent as big as the lower 48 states, with a human population smaller than Texas. Australia has game populations that must be controlled to prevent starvation and environmental degradation. Australia exports hundreds of millions of dollars of meat and hides a year, harvested by commercial Australian hunters. Kangaroo hunters are being driven out of business by over-regulation driven by animal rights activists.

“In North America, White Tails should be opened for commercial hunting. Lord knows there are more than enough”

The only place where there are too many deer is where farmers/landowners restrict hunting access to limit harvest.

Sure, rich trophy hunters probably help the local economy. so do the pedophiles who prey on kids. Both are sick puppies and the fact they drop big bucks that benefit the locals doesn’t change the fact that I, personally, think that what gets them off is subhuman. I like elk and venison, and pests are pests; but shooting something beautiful just to mount a head or a skin? Messed up person as far as I’m concerned. OTOH if it’s legal what the hell does my opinion matter?

Ummm...pedophiles preying on kids? YGBSM! If there is no reason to CONSERVE the remaining lions, lions may go extinct. That isn’t a problem with humans. And no, I don’t view shooting an animal as the equivalent of raping a child.

That is the problem with the ‘thinking’...
‘conserve’ the lions so rich sickos can hunt them. yes, it *works*, but the the very ‘human’ who would want to hunt them at all is the sort who, like pedos, would be best eliminated. Since we can’t just off sickos, then the best alternative is to at least let them contribute to the economy whilst they fulfill their perversion. In both cases the planet would be better if the people who even had these impulses ended up in a shallow grave somewhere in the wilderness.

You go ahead and be utterly morally superior. Won’t help when all the lions are gone.
