If you are wondering if Laura is gay, the answer is surely not. She was engaged briefly and seems attracted to men. She is extremely demanding in her private life as well as very devout.

I doubt any person could comfortably exist in her world....whether church, politics or any number of idiosyncrasies that drive her crazy...washing hands, picking up socks, chewing gum, et al. Love her to death but her perfect man will be hard to find. I think she was torn, desiring to mother some children vs. marriage.
