‘Chappaquiddick’: ‘Powerful People’ Pressured Studio Not to Release Film, CEO Says

“Chappaquiddick” tells the story of a relatively unknown scandal involving one of the most glorified families in American history: the Kennedys. So, it is not surprising that the cast, executive producers, and director felt some nerves taking on the project.

For Byron Allen, Entertainment Studios CEO and co-founder and executive producer of the film, the pushback to tell this story came when he first decided to produce the film. “Unfortunately, there are some very powerful people who tried to put pressure on me not to release this movie,” Allen said. “They went out of their way to try and influence me in a negative way. I made it very clear that I’m not about the right, I’m not about the left. I’m about the truth.”

The movie tells the story of what occurred in 1969 when Senator Ted Kennedy drove his car off a bridge on Chappaquiddick Island in Martha’s Vineyard and the passenger, Mary Jo Kopechne, was killed. At the Beverly Hills premiere and screening of the film at the Samuel Goldwyn Theater, Allen referred to Kopechne as “one of the original #MeToo victims” and said it was her time to receive justice and the truth.

Sad, but true, in most cases.

The old man was vile. He loved him some Nazis. Churchill had him figured out right quick as a coward & appeaser.

And they don’t want to know the truth either.

It’s shameful that Nancy Davis did not share Ronald Reagan’s politics. She may have voted for Ford in 1976, as he was closer to her views!

I’m not sure any more that Kennedy was driving the car.

I think she was murdered, straight up.

“Don’t look, Ethyl!” But it was too late. She’d already been incensed.

Amazing that Path To 911 made it to air before it was banned.

Disney totally capitulated to the Left.

I’ve told this story on FR before. A short while after this happened my aunt took me and my mother to the Capital building and we sat in the gallery. Kind of cool, there’s a continuous hum of noise coming from the senate floor, papers shuffling, people talking etc. and everyone in the gallery are quiet like mice.

Auntie whispered to mom, “That’s Ted Kennedy” which my obnoxious, little-kid self heard and I immediately belted out, “Is that the man who killed that woman?”

There was an instant two second silence then the hum of papers and people talking resumed.

I remember it like it was yesterday.

As someone on this forum remarked at his funeral: “Ted Kennedy has begun his final journey. .. and it’s starting to get hot.”

...tells the story of a very well known scandal involving one of the most scandalous families in American history: the Kennedys!

Any adult who lived through the numerous Kennedy scandals and cover-ups of the ‘50s-’60s already know the story.

Author of the article was probably born two decades later and didn’t bother to do any research.

Rosemary Kennedy had, at worst, a mild learning disability with a tendency for acting out and inappropriate outbursts. A lobotomy? Even in the 40’s, I can’t believe that was the standard procedure for that.

Joe Kennedy didn’t even tell his wife that the surgery was going to be performed. He just went ahead and did it, even though surgeons told him it would be “risky.” Naturally, the procedure turned her into a vegetable, she was institutionalized for the rest of her life, voila, embarrassing political problem solved.

That POS scum proved that government can get away with murder and that a good portion of America just won’t care. The Clinton’s and Obama’s know something about that.

My entire malleable childhood was formed by this event.
Then I had to watch this drunken pig be lionized by the Boston/national media.
********
He,along with Biden and others, sat in MORAL judgement of Justice Thomas (and others) during the hearings.

That’s when America’s slide into farce began. imo
