Securing enough money to combat climate change will be a challenge, but is non-negotiable, Mayor Martin J. Walsh said yesterday, a day after experts said Boston should expect to pay as much as $2.5 billion to curb the effects of rising seas and increasingly intense storms.
Two billion dollars is (an issue), our budget is $3 billion a year, so of course its going to be an issue, Walsh said. Its non-negotiable, we have to do something. Weve been doing things, we have to actually increase what weve been doing.
Earlier this week, climate experts warned city councilors that the cost of preparing Boston for climate change could be as high as $2.5 billion, even before a pricey seawall. The price of elevating land and retrofitting older buildings is expected to come in between $1 billion and $2.5 billion, but will be necessary for the city to withstand flooding and storm surge.

That’s a lot of sandbags.
...city must stem climate change tide
AGW is not a problem. We have other problems that actually matter. Of course, if it’s all you ever see in youtube, you THINK it’s a problem. Same with believing the earth is flat.
Math is Union owned, look, stock and banned barrel.
What a Putz!
Ahem,
...Mahty, oops
The phrase “tilting at windmills” comes to mind.
You’re exactly right. We didn’t have climate change until we put up all of the windmills which have blown the earth off its true axis. Makes as much sense as anything else.
Climate Hysteria Fraud has got to be the most lucrative fraud ever.
You go, Boston.
Tell us when you win.
Literal translation = We have to find a way to get our hands on a lot of government money so we can piss it away on stuff for ourselves.
If only I could believe Boston would disappear beneath the waves....
Did those “climate experts” bring their animal entrails and voodoo dolls into the city council meeting?
This is a budget issue; not a climate issue.
I wonder how mature one must become before they learn that seas do not rise, land erodes.
If you wish to amuse God tell him of your plans.
Boston has a budget of $3 billion to run the city but they need an additional "non-negotiable" $2.5 billion to fight climate change?
They don't have the money. They don't "need" the money". If they were able to get a hold of that much money, guess whose pockets it's going into? Not climate change. Largesse for the unions, public corruption and graft. Nothing to do with the climate.
There are lots of things wrong in world that $2.5 billion would help fix. Climate change isn't one of them.
These people really are idiots.
Ban people living by the seashore.....
Walsh is a moron, as if anything done in the city of Boston short of an atomic explosion or massive volcano is going to have an impact on a very dynamic system such as global weather patterns and trends.
Exactly! He’s a modern day Don Quixote.
Or, maybe the ghost of Tip O’Neil is haunting him? The citizen of Boston should put him out on his ear for asking them to shoulder the problems of the entire planet (if you even agree that such a problem exists).
No amount of money can change climate.....climate change blackhole toilet.
