Roseanne returns on Tuesday night for a 10th season no one could have predicted. Having vanished in 1997 with, among other things, the death of John Goodmans Dan Conner, the new Roseanne opens with the whole Conner clan miraculously intact as the show picks up 21 years later. The series doesnt just acknowledge the time that has passed it makes it central to the drama that always tinged this shows comedy. In 2016, we are told, Roseanne Conner voted for Donald Trump, and her sister, Jackie (Laurie Metcalf), voted for well, someone else. ...

At 11:30 or so numbers come out. You can see them here. http://tvbythenumbers.zap2it.com
She was. A flag-burning liberal, in her own words. But back then, she was on meds.
I thought Sarah Gilbert went the way of McAuley Culkin. She’s back, too?
How dare she not have voter remorse. Hasn’t she seen CNN lately?
Watched it. Thought it was pretty funny, though I suspect the cross-dressing boy was the compromise that let ABC brass feel good about airing a show that is decidedly not anti-Trump.
I think the Trump topic of the first episode was just a ploy to get people watching.......
ABC likes making money. Roseanne and John Goodman are proven hit makers. Politics in sitcoms started with All in the Family, and they may be performing an experiment to see what the bottom line on a rightward sitcom might look like.
” thought Sarah Gilbert went the way of McAuley Culkin. Shes back, too?”
Sara is back.
A big time lefty.
Married her “partner” Linda Perry in 2014, she has three kids.
She started and co-hosts the CBS daytime show The Talk. A bunch of women cackling about the news.
She did some appearances on Big Bang Theory as Leslie Winkle, a female Sheldon Cooper with a sex drive.
Thanks so much, for that link!!
In her defense, she has come full circle.
But you have to go back and look at the family unit that existed there in the 1990s...and what the NAFTA agreement did to the typical average family in the middle of America. I think she asked that question over and over, and came to realize that Trump has a point.
To say that she’s a conservative? No, there’s still probably a dozen things that she might self-identify as a liberal still. But she’s not buying into the Hillary excuses or the fake agendas that the news media has put out.
I think the Trump topic of the first episode was just a ploy to get people watching.......
Or, maybe it was a stipulation put in by ROSEANNE, whose name graces the show, and who happens to be a YUGE Trump supporter?
From what I’ve seen of the run ups (articles, talk show appearances), Roseanne has made it sound like it’s an ongoing theme.
Well, she’s a gifted actress anyway, whatever else you can say of her. Which Becky is Becky?
I think Roseanne solidified her image s a liberal when she sang a shrieking version of the national anthem from the mound at a Padres game in San Diego some years ago. I was there. I guess she thought it funny, includng the crotch grab which concluded her rendition.
“Well, shes a gifted actress anyway, whatever else you can say of her.”
I do enjoy her acting. I just wish she wasn’t a libtard.
I loved her bits on BBT, putting Sheldon Cooper in his place.
I wonder how any kid makes it in Hollywood and retains any sanity. I don’t really blame her, I blame the ones who use and abuse those kids.
“Which Becky is Becky?”
Alicia “Lecy” Goranson, the original Becky is back for the reboot.
What a story line, having the original Becky become a surrogate for the “second” Becky, played by Sarah Chalke.
Awful what happened to Becky’s tv hubby, Mark (played by Glenn Quinn, who died in 2002 of a heroin overdose).
Wonder what became of the baby they were expecting, revealed back when her sister Darlene brought home her premature daughter Harris???
Also, interesting how Darlene’s son is named Mark, the same name as her now-deceased brother-in-law!
Great first two episodes last night. Hope the ratings were through the roof.
I feel like I should watch the show just to support the second show on tv in support of Trump (after Hannity). But I never watched it before. Does it work if you never saw the old version?
Trump has issues with ROSIE O”DONNELL! NOT Rosanne Barr.
Guess I’ll have to try it. I HATED the old show. LOL!
