The central issue is cynicism directed at society.

The fact that there are many high school, and even college, students who are socialists is hardly breaking news:

Francois Guisot (1787-1874): "Not to be a republican at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head." It was revived by French Premier Georges Clemenceau (1841-1929): "Not to be a socialist at twenty is proof of want of heart; to be one at thirty is proof of want of head.”
But socialism is simply promotion of self in the guise of promotion of government, all at the expense of cheap criticism of the people/institutions who actually get things done.
From Theodore Roosevelt's 1910 speech at the Sarbonne:
There is no more unhealthy being, no man less worthy of respect, than he who either really holds, or feigns to hold, an attitude of sneering disbelief toward all that is great and lofty, whether in achievement or in that noble effort which, even if it fails, comes to second achievement. A cynical habit of thought and speech, a readiness to criticise work which the critic himself never tries to perform, an intellectual aloofness which will not accept contact with life's realities - all these are marks, not as the possessor would fain to think, of superiority but of weakness. They mark the men unfit to bear their part painfully in the stern strife of living, who seek, in the affection of contempt for the achievements of others, to hide from others and from themselves in their own weakness. The rôle is easy; there is none easier, save only the rôle of the man who sneers alike at both criticism and performance.

The credit belongs to the man who is actually in the arena, whose face is marred by dust and sweat and blood; who strives valiantly; who errs, who comes short again and again, because there is no effort without error and shortcoming; but who does actually strive to do the deeds; who knows great enthusiasms, the great devotions; who spends himself in a worthy cause; who at the best knows in the end the triumph of high achievement, and who at the worst, if he fails, at least fails while daring greatly, so that his place shall never be with those cold and timid souls who neither know victory nor defeat.

That’s funny......the Pist didn’t object when the Camera Hogg claimed the NRA and any politicians he disagreed with “had blood on their hands” and threw all sorts of vile insults at others.......but now that he’s on the receiving end of some of the same kind of crap he slung at others they start crying about it. Gee guys, maybe the lesson to be drawn here is if you don’t want to be treated like an A-hole then don’t act like an A-hole.

the Parkland students are simply a ventriloquist’s dummy for the use of journalists; they say what the journalists want said, and they get promoted on TV.

It is a cynical ploy by journalists who seek to trick conservatives into attacking the kids. The kids aren’t important, it is the people promoting them who are (ir)responsible adults and are causing the fuss for their own purposes.

Journalism is bad news.

I suspect but only an investigation will either dispel or prove that with those policies enforced students had all kinds of disciplinary problems (drugs, thefts fights etc) when attending classses there.
WHERE IS THE DEMAND FOR FEDERAL AND STATE INVESTIGATIONS ????
They’re missing the point It’s not guns or the NRA It’s policies which had cops standing outside while killing was going on or some nut getting a gun the FBI knew he wasn’t suppose to... Plus a whole raft of other stuff
DEMAND STATE AND FED INVESTIGATION ON THE POLICIES WHICH CAUSED THIS

OK, that's a scary thought. Think back to what the children who came of age under the NAZI regime did when they 'grew up". Is there an entire generation of Americans who could bring about and/or support the likes of concentration camps, Einstazzen groups, and turning a blind eye to industrial genocide?

Cute - The sign pictured at the link cites 14 “shooting incidents” and only 4 (FOUR) are related to schools.. Someone should have wrapped that sign right around the neck of the person who was carrying it. Someone said - “here carry this sign” and the dupe said “OK”....
