The left always says we should be like Europe, but they forget that many EU nations have strict censorship laws and that even an intellectual and rational criticism of one of those groups can land you in prison, get you fined, or if you are a foreigner deported and banned for life.
The US is not the UK nor Denmark nor “Europe” - the USA is a distinct entity with distinct problems, good points and bad points.
