In one of W.C. Fields’ movies (paraphrasing):

W.C. to woman: Would you have sex with me for a million dollars?

Woman: Yes

W.C. to woman: Would you have sex with me for fifty dollars?

Woman: What kind of woman do you think I am?

W.C. to woman: We’ve already established that. Now we’re just negotiating price.

George Bernard Shaw, not Fields.

The movie censors of that era would never have permitted the word "sex" to be uttered in an American film.
