President Trumps new picks for his legal team in the Russia investigation cannot join because of conflicts, Jay Sekulow, counsel to the president, said Sunday.
The president is disappointed that conflicts prevent Joe diGenova and Victoria Toensing from joining the President's Special Counsel legal team, Sekulow said in a statement.
Trump added the husband-wife team after John Dowd, a top member of the team, resigned last week.

That’s a good question.
I see no reason why diGenova cannot informally advise the President.
From what I read, Trump tweeted out that he’s named at least one of them before actually speaking with the person. An article described the “nominee” as being surprised by the announcement.
As opposed to the conflicts of interest of rosenstein and mueller? Bullsh!t.
Sekulow should be ashamed of himself to utter such a statement an idiotic statement.
Whoops...preview fail.
I still haven’t figure out why Dowd got kicked...He didn’t want Trump to sit down with Mueller and wanted the Mueller coup ended.
Sekulow needs to be kicked. He’s a squish.
Where did you read that? Please provide back up.
Thank you.
Wasn’t the conflict Mueller? I thought I heard Mueller had interviewed him..or am I wrong????
It appears Trump has management style issues. He fires people via Twitter, and without warning.
What happened to Ty Cobb. Was he thrown out stealing?
Why did Trump pick them in such a fanfare when they aren’t even able to join?
This is not good in that Trump gutted the leadership of his legal team before having his new team lined up. Not the behavior ones expects of a brilliant businessman, much less a president under siege by the entire Washington establishment.
Mueller put together a team of sharks to bring down the president. They are prepared for direct confrontation and experts at the backstabbing and leaking operators in Washington have used for years to bring down their foes, including presidents. For Trump not to have a legal team in place, equal or better than the opposition at this point in the game could be deadly. Mueller is not going to let up on the pressure while Trump puts a new team and place and they climb the learning curve. The death by 1000 cuts and leaks will continue unabated while Trumps new lawyers struggle to wade through hundreds of thousands of documents and emails.
Trump, in this instance, is his own worst enemy. If he has been poorly served by the people he has appointed to key positions, including his attorneys, he has only himself to blame. He made the choices.
Addressing the quality of and judgement of Trumps senior appointments, how is Ben Carson enjoying the $31,000 dining table he purchased for his office with taxpayer money?
I can see how V.T. might have a conflict, representing Campbell. But diGenova...?
I think it was CNN stating he had been hired. I was watching for conformation from Joe, never saw it.
A lot of BS on this thread.
The media has done their job well.
“For Trump not to have a legal team in place, equal or better than the opposition at this point in the game could be deadly.”
In his defense & as Roger Stone put it, ‘his lawyers were slow walking him to the gallows’.
Cobb is a White House employee. The gone John Dowd was on the President’s privately paid for legal team.
Just for the record, Carson did not approve the table, or the expense and he sent it back. Blame goes to people from the bureaucracy who set a trap for him.
As for conflicts, I can see a lot but I don’t know which particular one knocked them out. I believe his wife was representing the informant in the Uranium one case.
“He made the choices.”
True but the D.C. cesspool doesn’t have that many quality people to choose from. Scumbags and treachery abound. Especially when dealing with lawyers.
Thats a dishonest shot on Carson when you know the order for that table got cancelled. Granted it should never have been ordered in the first place, but your zeal to trash Trump is clearly causing you to ignore the facts.
