Pork, wine and fruit are going to get a lot more expensive in China.
Cut your prices and I’ll do my part in making up any shortfall in pork, wine, and fruit sales.
Sure plenty more like me out there in the good ol’ USA.
At $5 a bottle, wine becomes an everyday indulgence — and I usually have to buy Australian shiraz, instead of California zinfandel.
“Pork, wine and fruit are going to get a lot more expensive in China.”
And a lot cheaper here in the US as all that stuff will have to be sold here. Out shelves will also not be filled with contaminated food from China.
In addition, since there isn't as much going to China, the freight is greatly reduced to get the containers there. If there is not product to ship to China, then the containers go empty.
But the freight coming this way ships at the market price for freight.
In 2013 China bought “Smithfield” the worlds largest pork processor and all Smithfield owned companies. Well known brands such as Armour brand canned meat. Google
Smithfield owned companies and you will be surprised by the long list of familiar names that we all buy and support China.
I try not to buy any of them if I can remember.
Fixed.
Pork tariff> All of the Chinese tiggers and rovers get worried.
Fruit and nut tariff> maybe some of the Mexicans will pick up and go home
