Today chairman Bob Goodlatte sends a formal subpoena to the DOJ (Inspector General Michael Horowitz) for documents regarding the investigation of Hillary Clintons private email server, potential abuses of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act, and the FBIs Office of Professional Responsibility recommendation to fire former FBI Deputy Director Andrew McCabe.
However, its not the subpoena that should make the news. Pay close attention to the DOJ response:
Chad Pergram @ChadPergram
DoJ on Hse Judiciary Cmte's subpoenas: We are individually reviewing the remaining documents to ensure that they do not include grand jury information, information about ongoing law enforcement actions involving American citizens, or privileged attorney-client communications.
Oh, whats that? Yes, the DOJ has to review the demand for evidence because release of those documents might conflict with ongoing Grand Jury information (evidence). Yes, that means a Grand Jury is impaneled, exactly as we expected.
Yes, that also means there are law enforcement actions currently ongoing as a result of the prosecutor assigned to reviewing the evidence discovered by Inspector General Horowitz.
Are there still those who doubt?

The OIG investigation has already stung McCabe, the deputy director of the FBI. He will be indicted before the show is over. Indictments of others will happen but just not until after their report is released. There are already some indictments that remain sealed until the report is out.
Sounds of a petulant child throwing a temper tantrum will not make this happen. Only the measured, accurate investigation and then prosecution will get these folks thrown in prison. There is much we haven't seen yet that has been happening while you rant.
And I am no fool myself.
There is a criminal investigation going on and has been since 2015 by the DOJ IG, Horowitz, who has been working with the House committee hearings.
I didn't mention Rosenstein here. You did.
I'm talking about the prosecutor that Sessions appointed last summer to work in tandem with what the IG was uncovering. That is where the real action is now. And what everyone is waiting for, the IG report.
Critics of Sessions point to the fact that he isn't doing anything as evidence that nothing is getting done or will happen. Why? Because he is not out in front of the cameras every day like that idiot Schiffless? Sessions has a history as a prosecutor who keeps his head down and cards held close, until it is time to reveal the indictments of criminal activity.
Sessions is not the bad guy here. Trump would have fired him long ago if Sessions wasn't doing his bidding at DOJ. Contrary to all the Tweets, Trump and Sessions have a plan and they are keeping quiet about it until it is time to spring their trap.
GREAT comment! Agree totally.
Sessions is not the bad guy here. Trump would have fired him long ago if Sessions wasn’t doing his bidding at DOJ. Contrary to all the Tweets, Trump and Sessions have a plan and they are keeping quiet about it until it is time to spring their trap.
Sorry, Sessions is the bad guy here. He selfishly recused himself and allowed POTUS to be outflanked. If he had a shred of honor he would have resigned the moment it became clear this was going to derail much of Trump’s first term.
Trump has obviously decided not to fire him and Rosenstein because that would cause another political nuclear war during which he would get near ZERO support from his OWN PARTY. POTUS has chosen his agenda over another fight with the GOP and I don’t blame him. He won’t win in 2020 without it.
You had it right when you guessed Bannon.
Sessions is comprised by his repeated public praising/backing of Rosenstein. Rosenstein colluded with other Hillary-supporters/Trump-haters in the illegal FISA warrant attempted coup. It doesn’t get much more compromised than that.
Sessions is the bad guy, and has been since his second day as AG:
Trump quote:
Sessions should have never recused himself, and if he was going to recuse himself, he should have told me before he took the job and I would have picked somebody else.
One huge problem here.......from where does the Grand Jury panel come from?
DC and it’s equally communist suburbs.
So what are the odds of commies wanting to indict their fellow commies?
HUH?????????
Trump hasn't fired Sessions because he needs him to help bring Comey and the others down, including Mueller, I believe.
Sessions is the one who appointed the prosecutor that has empaneled the grand jury to bring indictments against those found involved in wrongdoing in the IG investigation into the FBI and DOJ.
It's the title of this thread. To say he is a bad guy is misplaced.
He is the master of manipulation and deception, to keep his enemies off balance and guessing.
Trump may have said that, but if he meant it literally, Sessions would have been gone last spring.
He's still in the AG job about to reveal the biggest scandal in DC since Watergate.
You are reaching levels of cognitive dissonance that shouldn’t even be possible.
You have already sniffed too many of those fumes to think clearly.

Sorry, I will never side with the pedophiles.
You have zero evidence that Trump was wholesale lying—which is a wholly different phenomenon than playing the press—when he said Sessions should have told him he planned to immediately recuse. Rosenstein participated in the felonious FISA warrant attempted coup, the purpose of which was to ensure a Hillary victory. If Trump had wanted a Trump-hating Hillary-fixer as Acting AG, he would have chosen Rosenstein himself. But he chose a person he mistakenly thought was on his side, and Sessions instantly—without providing his boss the minimal professional courtesy of a forewarning—demoted himself to the deputy slot and turned all the big, crucial issues over to Rosenstein.
You are siding with the Trump-hating Hillary-fixers whose goal is to destroy Trump’s presidency. That’s a fact.
I may still break into my happy dance.

I am still looking for the evidence you have to support your view.
You have zero evidence yourself.
So it seems we are in the same boat...
‘You have zero evidence yourself.’
That’s only if you assume that every single statement Trump has made since Sessions blindsided him with that treacherous recusal is a total and complete lie. If you fail to call even one of Trump’s statements a wholesale lie, then he has made himself abundantly clear. He’s furious at Sessions’ underhanded, disastrous recusal, and he’s furious over the direct results.
That's not true. Check the confirmation hearing transcript. He recused himself on anything connected to Clinton.
