How can I tell I'm getting old? My go-to music choices don't even come close to popular music currently topping the charts. When I drive my son to preschool, I proudly blast the classic rock station -- which now plays music from the 1990s. If listening to the likes of Pearl Jam and U2 makes me an old fogey? I can deal with that.
Perhaps this is something my parents would have argued a few decades ago, but I firmly believe that there is a good amount of music from the '90s that was so solid it will never be outdated. And I can't say that for much of what I hear on popular radio stations today.
If not for anything but a bit of nostalgia, let's take a look at the top songs from the '90s that still hold their own, shall we?

The Beatles suck.
Ditto
“Late 60s and nearly all the 70s. Thats the last of the good music. I despise U2 and Pearl Jam.”
Pearl Jam is right there as one if the worst of all time.
U2 don’t fall in to that category.
But the idea the 70’s or 60’s were significantly better is a laugh.
not one doo-wop group ? puh
Dreck, plain and simple.
I definitely prefer mid-60’s to mid-80’s the most for secular.
As far as Christian music, give me the traditional church hymns in a SNC hymn book - even the very last 90’s (some of it) Christian pop stuff.
Other than Alison all this songs are wretched.

You had to be there, young un - and at least a decade earlier.
I know 4. I uses I’m old.
no, the worst and most overhyped band of all time was the Doors. Their music reminded me of the Groovy Ghoulies cartoon show.
Oasis is a good band from the 90s.. put out good stuff. Guns and Roses I guess is 80s and 90s but also very good
Only decent band that came from the 90s was Radiohead.
I WAS there. They have always sucked.
So, I read the list. "No." "No." "Good Grief, No!" "Nope" "No." And so on. Mostly bad pop music, or bad pop songs by decent bands.
Oh well, it was a nice trip down memory lane.

Heh heh you said “rag”.
About what I would expect from one who was a teenage girl then. Unlikely she ever even heard of the great 90’s songs like “Head Like a Hole” by Nine Inch Nails or “Ænema” by Tool.
The only songs on the list I would listen to now are:
“Nothing Compares 2 U”
“Losing My Religion” - especially the live acoustic version
Anything by Michael & Janet Jackson would cause rage & bizarre actions in my behaviour - they were/are truly evil humans....esp Michael.
Well, Thursday is my regularly scheduled Remember Your Past Heartbreaks Day.
I can see why that might appeal to all.
