A Ukrainian military pilot accused of shooting down a Malaysia Airlines flight has committed suicide, according to a Ukrainian media report that cites the police.
Ukrainian media says 29-year-old Capt. Vladyslav Voloshyn shot himself at his home, but his death is being investigated under the "premeditated murder" section of the Ukrainian penal code. A military service pistol found at the scene is also being looked at.
According to the BBC, Voloshyn had been in charge of the Mykolaiv airport after leaving the airforce. Before that, he flew combat missions against Russian-backed rebels, and was described by Ukraine as a war hero. However, Russia accused him of shooting down MH-17 in 2014, an allegation he called a lie.

Assisted?..................
Ft. Marcy park East?
With a little help from his Russian Politburo comrades.
Arkancide Eastern Block Style?
I expect the Pravda headline to be: Accused MH17 shooter no longer denies guilt.
I recall that a Russian Buk AA missile was allegedly held to be the cause for the crash. Were the investigators wrong?
Russian investigators announced the fuelage was bullet riddled and the passengers dead before the crash
Will the world ever know the truth
Again- who benefitted from the act?
Not Russia
Not Russian separatists
Accident or set up?
The damage to MH17 is actually typical to air launched missiles although BUK has (rare) munitions using similar shrapnel. Official inquiry points at BUK actually but who knows.
Thought He was a Ukrainian hero. Not a Russian
Which one do you mean? Today, there are five countries that have a politburo system: China, North Korea, Laos, Vietnam, and Cuba.
Your information on shrapnel patterns identifying the missile used (air or surface) is the most accurate evidence to date.
Probably the one that was the highest bidder.
Another red flag is the plane was hit in the front from top. BUK is relatively short range point defence SAM using proximity fuse for detonation. Normally is should hit in the rear from the downside.
That is true, the pilots caught it in the face through the windscreen.
Mh370 supposedly found 10 miles south of Round Island, and riddled with bullet holes.....
Some Aussie found it with google earth the other day.
American experts pissed off and debunking it.
Looks like Vlad and the boys are cleaning up loose ends lately!
I don’t know how anyone doesn’t believe that Putin didn’t give the order to ice this Pilot.
That reported MH370 location just happens to coincide with a well documented South African Air, Flight 295 crash site. I’m still trying to figure out how one sees bullet holes on a submerged aircraft using satellite photos.
Renowned Ukrainian pilot Vladyslav Voloshyn died after shooting himself in his apartment in the southern Ukrainian port city of Mykolaiv on March 18. His family was at home at the time of the incident.
Voloshyns wife who heard the shot called the ambulance. Voloshyn, 29, was still alive when the medics arrived, but died later in hospital.
According to the police, Voloshyn shot himself with a Makarov semi-automatic pistol with no license number. The pistol was seized and sent for examination. He leaves a wife and two children.
Oh dear, looks like Putin hired the wife, so far. But then,
The investigation by a local journalist Andriy Lokhmatov published in late January shows that Voloshyn was pressured by the local administration into unlawfully signing documentation regarding procurement tenders at Mykolaiv Airport. Initially, he refused to agree but ended up signing the documents after being appointed an acting head of the airport.
Lokhmatov also published the screenshots of Voloshyns correspondence with a friend, in which the former pilot said he wanted to resign because he understood he had broken the law and felt suicidal. Relatives claimed he had looked depressed prior to the incident.
Caught taking the traditional Uke Government graft, maybe Putin hired him to off himself!
Well, it clears the wife.
