"I am an American fighting man. I serve in the forces guarding our country and our way of life. I am prepared to give my life in their defense." |
I have mentioned this in a few responses over the past 2 weeks. The cops were violating their own policy and procedure by not going in. I heard it about a week ago from a YouTube blogger “ mike the cop” who discussed the procedure with a Broward cop.

Not so much a rule, as a suggestion
The Sheriff is a muslum, he cares not for infidels. Did you expect a different result with a 500 years of history...
I believe that “thinking” capable people will agree with what I have said several times over the years on FR on this subject.
Namely, we must be realistic, Many of us, including this writer, do not know WHAT we would really, really do when faced with the prospect of opening that door and walking down that hall and confronting a shooter with lead flying by the dozens of rounds. I submit fully half of police officers on duty now could not turn that knob and walk into the middle of something like that. And, never mind what the damn “manual” says.
Navy Seal training offers us a good contrast in training. They don’t take every one of the people that apply. Instead they carefully weed out a high percentage of applicants then 80% of those same “applicants”, or more, quit during training.
Why? Well, yes it’s physically tough but it is also mentally demanding. This means the training is designed to weed out the cowards. Most guys can’t swim under a ship in a harbor (with 3’ of clearance between the hull and the ground), most can’t jump out of an airplane in the dark and free fall for many miles into a hot LZ.........and on and on.
Yes, the Seals weed out 80%. Most police forces accept anyone that shows up and then most of them graduate and too often because some PC rule forbids being too hard on the applicants and particularly women. Then, many of them then hit the streets and when an active shooter is killing kids inside a building they freeze up, just like Peterson and others have done.
What, as a society, do we not understand about this TRUTH of human nature.
What’s the answer. Live gunfire training with NO PC BS! It’s pass or Ring the BEll !
Wrong, wrong, wrong. It is written policy which is a rule. Even if a suggestion as you say, what cop or man stands by as he hears shots killing children? Who the f*ck does that?
As I've said before: The very least the SRO should have done is crawl to the sound of gunfire and discharged his side-arm into the ground a few times. If he could hear the gunshots in an in-closed area, then the shooter would most likely hear his weapon and may have been distracted. Gawd, he didn't even try. The f*cker hid.
There is no greater sacrifice than to give your life for the innocent. He's a coward by all standards of our society in my opinion. The coach and students were not, while facing the continued gunfire.
“Not so much a rule, as a suggestion”
A truly inane statement. It’s procedure and protocol not a “suggestion”.
I guess I should have added the /s tag
It’s a line from Pirates of the Caribbean about the Pirates Code
And it seems to have been taken as a mere suggestion by Peterson
A better explanation is that they are cowardly, unionized government agents with contempt for the public they serve.
There were real heroes among the teachers and students. Can’t say the same for the police.
While I agree mostly, you should keep in mind that SEAL's, Army Delta, and other SpecOps are trained to kill. There are no cowards that apply for those positions. They just wash out for various reasons.
"Most police forces accept anyone that shows up and then most of them graduate and too often because some PC rule forbids being too hard on the applicants and particularly women."
You do make a point there. However, they are not trained to be killers. They are about law enforcement while dealing with stupid drunks, domestic nonsense, traffic, etc. on a daily basis. That said, I've learned long ago from the Rodney King riots in LA what cowards LEO's can be and how dis-functional their leaders are. I watched live on TV as they pulled out of ground zero and Los Angeles burned for days.
Yes, you should have added the tag. All is good.
I believe the Sheriff knew what his officers did not do and it’s why he was so quick to shout loud and often to change the subject to gun control and not the inaction of his officers.
“There is no greater sacrifice than to give your life for the innocent. He’s a coward by all standards of our society in my opinion.”
Peterson should be called “Yellow Stain!” I love life, don’t want to die, but I have children and grand kids, and so I can’t imagine at least trying stop the carnage even at the expense of my own life. There really wasn’t any option here.
As someone that has taught, extensively, on the subject, IT IS NOT A SUGGESTION. IT IS A RULE/POLICY, or whatever else you want to call it. And, your training is documented, signed off and the individual also signs that they have taken and successfully passed the course. Because of this, the Deputy should not have been allowed to retire, should have been brought up on department admin charges and a decent DA probably could have pushed some Manslaughter charges on him for being a p*ssy, along with the other 3 cowards.
Story seems to be intended to place the blame solely on those who didn’t go in and never mentions stories of a stand down order....with the POS “Sheriff” as just a poor trainer...
Sheriff Israel has his own cop-training rules.
Forget L/E——it’s not “progessive.”
Every one of Israel’s new cops gets a gun, a uniform, a two way and a spiffy new golf cart.
Israel “trains his cops” to sit in the car with the light on top, wait for early retirement, and collect a pension.
Totally agree.
