It’s illegal sure, but credit card orders are taken by phone, or online, all the time....hence, that’s how she got away with it.
My point was, just because it was illegal—the illegal behavior (fraud, in impersonating her mother, I suppose), and since it was their child—her parents are liable for the bill.
This is why real estate sales require a settlement—with lawyers and witnesses, and recording it all with the courthouse....
Rentals, don’t require all that, by law—and can be done...just with a credit card (in certain circumstances).
Well then they are responsible up to $50, per the terms of the CC agreement.
I agree her parents are “responsible” ; just not to the CC company.
