More than six months after dismissing Richard Simmons defamation lawsuit against the National Enquirer and Radar Online, which ran articles alleging that Simmons had undergone sex reassignment surgery, a judge ordered the fitness guru to pay nearly $130,000 in attorneys fees to the media outlets and their publisher, American Media, according to court documents.
Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Gregory Keosian issued his ruling on Friday. The defendants had filed a motion in January seeking $220,000, which Simmons' lawyers criticized as a "billing fiesta."
Simmons sued the media outlets in May 2017 after they ran articles claiming he is transgender. A June 2016 cover of the National Enquirer, for example, read: Richard Simmons: Hes Now a Woman. In his lawsuit, Simmons claimed the outlets published the stories with calculated malice.

Yeah, that's me... not reading articles about queers.
More like sillygunner.
But given that, there was room for Simmons to deal with this with more aplomb. His best defense would have been to flout his accusers as publicly as they had mocked him.
Testosterone?????? There was nothing artificial about Simmons, he was just an average flamboyant guy with average body fat and no muscular development like all the other fake exercise videos with muscular dudes or chicks and their 6-pack abs...
Because of his average frame, he resonated with all the fat people who wanted to lose weight with an instructor that was just as average as them.........
Yea, that's you......
But most certainly jabbering about them just the same.
It’s like being a lumberjack. That’s okay but you had better deal with bona fide lumber.
From his balls. Good grief. He’d have no reason to chop them off.
Even homosexuals can’t stand trannies.
He wasn’t always average. At one time he weighed 268 lb.s.
Quite a lot for a guy who is 5’ 6”.
Me too. And with all the exercise he was supposedly doing he sure was a flabby little freak.
All it takes is somebody to yank his shorts down and solve this whole thing.
Ain’t you dirty minded?
If you get a lot of muscle and bone it’s possible.
Or if you lose 123 lb.s like he did.
Notice the logic the judge ruled “reporting a person transgender not injurious.” You have to fully buy into the latest “gender” nonsense to believe public discussion of your sexual organs is not injurious. Especially for a person who has likely had to deal with persistent rumors about his sexuality. Not being a judge I would think the obvious malice would be proof enough of injury.
Then he certainly was able to connect with fat people with his videos.......
I can't understand all the vitriol towards this harmless guy, this site is turning into a virtual hate farm that is manifesting on lots of other threads too..
It certainly isn't the same FR as when I first joined..........
That is all very true.
Like his style or not, the only agenda he ever promoted AFAIK is fitness. He did that without sugarcoating the fact that it would take work but encouraged people to enjoy the effort and didn’t believe in fad diets, drugs or OTC weight loss pills. I don’t know how that can be cast as a negative thing.
I agree with you there.
LOL
Probably so...
