“Does Kahr even make an AR ?”

Well, from our experience, he makes crappy pistols. I bought my wife a Kahr .380. The damned thing would not go through a 6 round mag with out an FTE. Gun shop sent it back to Kahr for “repairs,” then the shop owners took us to their private range to watch us try to fire it. Same crap. They claimed my wife was “limp wristing” the gun, so I asked the 6 ft 250 lb shop guy to try his hand at it. Same result. I would not recommend a Kahr unless you intend to throw the damned thing at your assailant. We have two other .380 “pocket pistols,” a Sig 238 and a Glock 42. Both of these guns are rock solid, particularly the Sig, which is an all-metal piece.

Had a similar experience with a Kahr .380. Jammed a couple times and had it sent back and they “polished the ramp and replaced the extractor”. Hasn’t failed since but once a weapon jams even once, it’s hard to trust as a self defense weapon - My Ruger .380 LCP has never jammed from day one.

One can’t go wrong with a Glock, of any caliber or model. They are just superb platforms.

A friend of mine and previous Freeper LOVED these guns. I hated it.

You had to be hulk to rack the damned thing, and the serrations would tear up your hand. He said “You have to run a few hundred rounds through it”

Not me, thanks. Chunky, difficult to perfect leather for and like you said - a bit difficult to get through a whole mag. It’s the slide, really. That’s why it FTE’d all the live long day.

The build quality is great though. Not a gap on the damned thing. The mags were an issue, IMO they would chatter and rattle around like change in your pocket.

My wife purchased a Kahr 380 from a private party. Similar experience to yours. Traded it at an FFL for a reliable alternative. Unrelated, Kahr acquired Magnum Research. My wife had a 17M2 semi-auto rifle with a carbon fiber barrel. Kahr converted it to .22LR at no charge including new barrel, bolt and bolt handle. 17M2 was becoming unobtainable and Kahr had reports of unreliability. I had the same rifle in .22LR. Had to replace the firing pin and hammer spring. As originally shipped, the firing pin was cutting the rims on the .22LR ammo. A broader face on the replacement coupled with a heavier spring fixed the FTF and cut rims.
