Families of two people killed by package bombs left on their doorsteps in Austin knew each other and were connected through local activism in the black community, a civic leader said Tuesday... Investigators have said the three blasts that killed two people and wounded two others could have been hate crimes since all the victims were black or Hispanic. But they also said they have not ruled out any possible motive. Draylen Mason, 17, was killed and his mother wounded when a package bomb was opened Monday in their kitchen. The teen's grandfather is Norman Mason, a prominent dentist in east Austin. He was friends with Freddie Dixon, stepfather of 39-year-old Anthony House, who died in a similar attack in another part of the city on March 2, said Nelson Linder, president of the Austin chapter of the NAACP.

Seeing as these bombs killed whoever picked them up first, you have to consider that the victim may not have been the intended target, but just someone who knew or lived with the intended target. So I wouldn’t dismiss a connection because it is a degree or two down the line.
If all the victims were white, would they announce they were looking for a black perp as a suspected hate crime?
They are yearning to find a white supremacist responsible for this. If it’s a POC, the story will instantly disappear.
Or more likely, a false flag. Someone trying make us think someone is trying to incite race wars....
If all the victims were white, race wouldn’t even have been mentioned as a possible factor.
Yes, I think the sophistication of the bombs is a key element, but what does it mean, and does it tie to these specific victims? It takes both effort and knowledge to build a bomb, and you would normally expect a bomber to go after a crowded, target-rich environment, not individual households. A very strange MO.
I dunno. Police is still not sure what the motive is of This black racist serial killer who kept saying to kill whites and caught actually killing 7 whites or so of them...
Does anyone know the percentage of blacks and Hispanics in these neighborhoods? If it’s 50% or more black and Hispanic, it’s less likely there a racial angle to the bombings. But if it’s mostly white with only a sprinkling of minorities, the possibility of a racial element increases.
The unabomber’s victims were ideological for this leftist, so of course the FBI would never look for a leftist and say it was random, until the fcker put a manifesto which I am pretty sure the FBI got letters from
him before that. Sounds like a Paddock mental profile case too because any hint of right wingerism in Paddock would have been paraded instead of this no motive
And if they was white would their murders still be unsolved? They were just running a TV series about that a few weeks ago. Of course it was racist.
“The FBI is going to solve it?”
LOL! They still haven’t solved who has the best brisket in Austin.
The FBI cheered and had a party when they captured him. I’m absolutely certain the brother knew after the first bombing.....since they had been communicating all along.
My bet is it is someone in the military, probably familiar with IED’s, other explosives and devices who has access to these devices and had a relative killed by drug dealers.
Now he is seeking revenge. The three people killed so far are connected by a drug gang.
Texas has numerous bases so it would have to be one that houses explosives and other ordnance.
But then it’s a “love crime”
Aren’t they having some Anti-Gentrification violence promoting groups out and about in the city of the weird, I mean Austin?
I haven’t heard that all three victims are somehow related to drug gangs. There was some early police speculation that the first victim might have been mistakenly targeted because he lived near a similar-looking house where a recent drug raid had occurred, but I haven’t heard anything about the other victims having any connection - real or mistaken - to drug gangs.
Of course, they have conveniently left the Hispanic lady out of the equation. They’ve decided not to pursue the notion that just days before the first bomb there might be related to a huge drug bust a few houses down.
Yeah, because we know that all blacks are somehow involved with gangs and drugs right?
Tilt switches are not particularly sophisticated.
The fact that two of the three victims knew each other is very interesting, particularly since they lived blocks away from each other. This speaks against randomness.
Something in one article I read suggested that the bombs were remotely detonated - is that true? It seems unlikely.
Other sites and the news last night said they weren’t sophisticated and components could be bought anywhere. Bottom line, they don’t know or aren’t saying or sensationalizing.
The NAACP prez has been a camera hogg recently with this and degentrification of that area of Austin.
