I look back at the Brits during WWII and I see a LOT that is admirable.

I watched a documentary on the RAF Bomber Command last night, and the sacrificed lives of 50,000 aircrew over Europe. Brave men all. England should be ashamed it has allowed itself to degenerate into the cesspool its become.

But, using “Pakis” or Pakistanis used to be more common before. Now the former is regarded on par with the so called n-word...
So even though you are somewhat right about the Asian/Oriental thing... Both can be referred to as Asians, but it used to be very common to use the main nationalities from the sub-continent - Indians and Pakistanis as the adjective of choice.

Asian has been a code word for Mid Eastern Muslims for decades in the UK and at least a decade here.

I am wondering, has it always been that way or have Brits allowed the word “Asian” to be co-opted for political reasons? I can see Muslims hiding behind the word “Asian” in the same way that homosexuals hide behind a bright, happy word like “gay”. And like the people suffering from gender dysphoria are abusing well established English pronouns.
Remember that the western-most reaches of “Asia” extend to the Dardanelles in Turkey.
ME is refered to as Asian there. They are muslim, that is understood by the Brits. Whether they do anything about it, is another story.
