But Trump’s voters KNEW he was not a perfect person with a perfect life ... before Melania, he had been divorced, been re-married, had children by previous wives. Now, earlier Presidents did not have that background. Infidelity charges would have mattered.

I’m not so sure about that. I originally thought that’s what was happening - I thought he was getting destroyed over some decades old alleged indiscretions.
But then at the end of the campaign when he lost someone on FR pointed to a couple YouTube interviews in which Moore said some truly crazy stupid things on national T V - like that Blacks were happier under slavery - homosexuals would get the death penalty if justice followed the bible - women shouldn’t have gotten the vote - stuff like that that no politician in their right mind would say out loud.
I didn’t believe it was true but I watched the interviews and sure enough!
I wasn’t a local and don’t watch network news, so I had never heard Moore speak about anything, so I just thought he lost over the fact that 25 years ago he dated some girls that were a bit young.
But having watched the interviews I now think he lost because he was a piss poor candidate who said really stupid stuff. I imagine the folks in Alabama that actually voted in that election were inundated with video clips of his stupid comments night and day for months. No wonder he lost.
I think it might have to do with the 130,000 payout and if it was an illegal campaign payout. Who the hell knows. I am just sick of it all and wish these people would just get over the fact that Trump won.

For political purposes, that's the long game to turn Trump's base against him but it isn't useful for impeachment. Impeachment needs a crime.
