Oh blessed diplomacy, hallowed be thy process as we worship at the sacred altar of Cordell Hull's striped pants.
At the New York Times it is mandatory that President Donald Trump receive little or no credit for his accomplishments. This seems to be especially true about the Thursday announcement that Trump will be meeting with North Korean leader Kim Jong-un by May. The Times columnist, Max Fisher, went out of his way to emphasize not only in his Thursday column (which must have been hastily written since the announcement came at 7 PM that day) but also in a series of tweets that Trump just wasn't following proper diplomatic protocol.
We shall begin with Fisher's column but the real fun comes later in his tweets which, after the enormity of this diplomatic breakthrough seems to have sunk in, sound even more desperate in his attempts to minimize this Trump accomplishment which until recently most "experts" wrote off as impossible.

The left is genuinely terrified because if Trump pulls this off their entire construct is destroyed.
Very curious about Tillerson taking ill in Africa. Timing and all. Plus reports he may not have been in the last-minute loop or part of the North Korea deal. Maybe he's a bit upset and showing by calling in sick?
now on this issue more hand wringing and underestimating POTUS. National Review has a silly editorial, lecturing the president that there is no upside to a meeting. They assume he will be “played”........
I think you nailed it.
Liberalism is never having to say you were wrong.
Rex said the Kim meeting with President Trump was “no surprise.”
Nobody plays Mr. Trump.
The left will never recognize anything Trump does as a success. Ever. I have shut out their raving as background noise. It’s degenerated into incomprehensible gibberish.
Trump has been negotiating deals his entire life rather than reading about it in some dusty book.
The NY Slimes also pronounced today that the 315,000 new jobs are the product of economic expansion over the last eight years.
“Notice how “well” diplomacy has worked thus far in denuclearizing North Korea.”
I guess the like the Clinton policy on North Korea and the Obama policy on Iran.
The left can not help themselves. If they really thought the meeting between the two leaders will end in a disaster for President Trump they would be happy the meeting will be taking place.
Their worry is NOT that the meeting will be a disaster, but that President Trump will succeed where all others have failed.
The fact that the President is going to sit across from the leader we have been at war with for 50+ years is a victory in itself.
OK, Slimes, why did the jobs not appear two or three years ago? (crickets)
It’s scary hilarious how the failed foreign policy geniuses of the last two decades are now warning DJT of the dangers of dealing with North Korea.
They are truly embarrassing.
