Trump agrees to meet with North Korea's Kim Jong Un, South Korea says
ABC and GMA via Yahoo ^ | March 8th, 2018 | JONATHAN KARL and JORDYN PHELPS,

President Donald Trump has agreed to meet with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un by this May, South Korea's national adviser announced at the White House Thursday evening. He had briefed the president on a message from Kim earlier in the day.

The South Korean envoy said that in his recent talks with Kim, the North Korean leader had expressed an eagerness to meet with Trump as soon as possible.

He said that Kim had said he was committed to denuclearization, suspending more missile tests, and had agreed that U.S.-South Korean joint military exercises the North objects to must continue.

The dramatic disclosure came after Trump told reporters Thursday afternoon to expect a major announcement from South Korea.

That word from the president comes after a South Korean delegation met with top national security officials at the White House complex earlier in the day.

After Trump ducked into the White House briefing room to tease the announcement, ABC News' Jonathan Karl ran into Trump himself who told Karl the announcement was going to be a big deal.

he stood up to big bully after making a "meaningful" offer of peace and disarmament...

Assuming he went through with the peace and disarmament (in order to feed his people and keep them from burning his palace), what's wrong with him 'saving face' in his nation's eyes ?

Why the momentus elation..? We've been exactly here before. DECADES later, who much has the situation improved. Why wouldn't they try the same ploy again..?

Exactly? What is different is that now they have nukes that have been tested? No nation that has a working arsenal of nukes is going to just give them up.

Having said that -- it is helpful to have dialogue if for no other reason than for Trump to communicate to NK what will happen to them if they make a misstep.

Thank you....I just read a post over on another site that has Zero in its name. Anyway one of the poster supposed that a deal is to be made whereas Kimmy and his family are set up like royalty (with no real power) as Korea is being unified. Kind of like the Emperor of Japan and other such royals. Interesting idea. Why not? Let him preen about but for God’s sake, bring those poor NK folks into the 21st century and begin the long task of undoing their brainwashing. Maybe it can’t be done. Maybe NK gets set up as a sort of quasi-fascist state that is a bit more benign than it is now. I dunno the answer. China figures into this equation too.

Now another idea is this is a long term strategy to eventually remove US presence which will allow China to move against Taiwan and further south. Maybe advance that old Co-prosperity Sphere the Japanese tried to do last century. Lots of skullduggery here to consider

But meetings are better than no meetings imho.

History matters. Chamberlain was negotiating from a position of weakness. The western democracies were so traumatized by losses in WWI that they were unable to muster the will to use their superior military might against the fledgling Hitler.

Hitler knew this and proceeded accordingly.

Trump is acting from a position of strength, included in which is the deliberately crafted uncertainty about what he just might do. Kim has no idea what to make of Trump— the NK has never faced such an adversary. He must realize that the usual game and the familiar rules are over.

I agree that Chamberlain was negotiating from a position of weakness. It is rather touching that upon the demise of Chamberlian as PM and the rise of Churchill, Churchill kept Chamberlain on in the war planning committee until Chamberlain’s health precluded him from any government functions. Churchill knew the hand Chamberlain had been dealt and had warned incessantly about the threats during the 1930s to deaf ears. But it was politicians like Chamberlain that followed a policy of funding the military with pences instead of pounds. The result was predictable.

This is the same predictament Trump is in. The military had been weakened by the prior administration. It is now a catch up game. In my opinion, Trump is talkingup our armed forces, sort of fluffing the feathers so to speak, until the military can get back on its feet. As of now it can not fight a two front war. It can barely sustain the actions it has going on right now. To be honest, I think we are streatched way to thin, like the British on the eve of WW2, we face losing Singapore, Tobrouk and other outposts (metaphorically speaking).

"Good health and cheer to you!"

You are very kind, thank you very much; same to you.

I have been busier and generally didn't have much of substance to contribute or keep up the thread lately, so I drop in once in a while but don't post as much.

I will assume that a link with a picture dated as to when it was put up will be sufficient...

As well as many correlating links by many many others

Go take a look around at Qanonposts.com and as you will see the dates os posing etc are not able to be altered and let’s see what you can find, you seem like an intelligent fellow

Here is a direct link to the picture that shows the Norks and South Koreans meeting, follow the links from the photo and you will see this is not a blog pimp site. Also a lot of info on Assange and much more, I really hope you enjoy it

And - as Scott Adams has been pointing out for months - Trump is THE ONLY president who Kim could credibly trust - because he has no history of invading or bombing other nations (like the previous 4 presidents did - and he is committed to MAGA!

Not meaningless wars to export our “democratic ideology” to people who don’t get it and don’t want it.

Plus - Trump has not only tightened the official sanctions - he has gone after the COMPANIES breaking the embargo ... and the NK economy is cratering - BIG TIME!

Kim’s saying that his father’s dying wish was to denuclearize the peninsula is an (obvious) untruth, BUT - by saying this Kim has turned 60+ years of NK ideology on its head and signalled that he’s had enough .. its the closest to him waving thee white flag as you’re gonna see ...

... he wants a way out that keeps him in power and his people fed (before they eat him) ... this is what a Trumpian “diplomacy” victory looks like ...

Muammar Qaddafi of Lybia did give up his nuclear program (not quite a working arsenal) in December of 2003, right after Saddam Hussein was pulled out of the spider hole in Iraq.

Eight years later Obama / Hillary Clinton team decided that Qaddafi outlived his usefulness and he met a gruesome end.

Don't think that Iranian mullahs and Kim didn't notice:
