Someone has to let the math Lt or the dispatcher know where they are. you don’t respond and cut yourself off from back-up or delay their response.
Ina modern department you can send a computer message or text or call or lapel radio. You never respond without people knowing what you are doing. How difficult is this concept? I taught this for 20 years.
Kinda reminds me of Benghazi.. A few actual good guys willing to risktheir lives and careers to save others, after the ones in charge said ‘stand down and let the massacre continue unhindered’.
I believe you are misunderstanding my comments. I am not objecting to them responding and I certainly would not have suspended them, if I were their Boss. I was simply saying that if the suspension was because they did not advise their command that they were headed in, that is a legitimate reason for discipline. It is important for Police Officers to let their bosses know where they are at all times, especially when they are responding to a call that they are not assigned to.
BS..!!
Kinda proves the NRA’s point, having only cops having guns will not work. Apparently, they are supposed to just stand by and watch us die!
“If the local citizens rose up and lynched him, that community would actually be safer.”
The problem is in Broward County the “citizens rose up” and elected all of these people. In a perverse way, they, by their electoral habits, caused the deaths of their own children. But now, they’re still trying to blame an assembly of metal parts that can’t do anything on it’s own.
Didnt have a plan? Former military war fighters would automatically know what to do in a coordinated assault into the school. Just a couple of directions on who is covering who, and get on with it.
They wouldn't and they die an honorable death trying to protect children. So what? All your replies are full of suppositions. How do you know the SWAT guys didn't radio in? How do you know they were in plainclothes while training - highly unlikely. MOST likely they were at least wearing t-shirts that said police and a badge. Quit making suppositions and presumptions. ANY, I say again, ANY LEO that rushed past the Broward Cowards are heroes in my book as were 2 Coral Springs PD that told the sheriffs to shove it and ran towards the buildings.
What kind of command sits back to "stage" while it's obvious that kids are being slaughtered? Conjure up all the excuses you think are relevant, the fact remains the 4 Deputy Sheriffs hid behind vehicles and some stairwell.
Other than the Rodney King riots where the police pulled out from ground zero, this is the worse case of police cowardice or malfeasance I've witnessed in my life. What real man would stand buy and listen to those gun pops without trying anything and everything? Hell, the so-called School Resources Officer could have crawl closer to the sound and shot a few rounds in the ground to hopefully distract the shooter. Anything! (p)Guess what? A cops duty is not to go home safe every night. Contrary to the USSC, they are obligated to put their lives on the line, as do military and firefighters. If they don't want to risk their lives for the innocent, then get a job as a greeter at Walmart.
I did not read that in the Townhall article.
You actually think that happened? I see on local TV every night a police pursuit that goes through many jurisdictions. You think the LAPD, Fullerton PD, and back up to the North Hollywood PD are not in constant comms? They just pull out of their respective jurisdictions to meld in with others? Of course not. There is a protocol that all neighboring PD's, along with surrounding County Sheriffs that is rehearsed and used on a specific radio frequency to coordinate the chase.
How do you think the Broward Cowards, Coral Springs PD, SWAT trainies and Miramar knew it was happening? You know less than you think you do. This is not the wild west when different jurisdictions had to telegraph to await a backup posse. Cops have body, handheld, and car radios. There is not a cop out there, yes even in SWAT training, that doesn't have access to radio comms. Please, just stop.
Unbelievable. SWAT trainees are the best of the best in LE or they wouldn't be trainees. That's like telling a SEAL not to move in until there is a planned staging area. Yes, their missions are planned to the inth degree, but if something goes awry, they adapt and move forward. A basic grunt Marine knows that. Even this old aviation sailor knows to move forward when a fire breaks out on the flight deck. We weren't trained to set perimeters around the flaming aircraft. You move in to quash the flames or die trying. Sheesh
Cops are never off duty. They see a crime occurring, it is their duty to respond.
You’re kidding, right? That doesn’t happen. See my post above.
Sadly this is happening everywhere. The brain-washed masses from blue states migrate when they retire and they retire early because they can sell their $200k house for $800k in MA, CA, IL, CT, etc. then move to Florida, AZ, or TX changing the ideology make up of the state. It drives me crazy.
YES YOU DO! That is exactly what first responders are for. Firefighters do it every year in our California wildfires. There's a recent fact-based movie called, "Only The Brave" about an entire elite crew being burned to death. An amazing action movie, but a real tear-jerker.
My doctrine:
A society that hesitates to defend its children is uncivilized.
There is no greater calling than to protect the truly innocent.
I'm outta here. I can't deal with people making excuses for policies, protocol, but most especially the Deputy Sheriffs who hid while hearing the gunshots. It's getting harder by the day to find real men willing to give their lives so others may live.
They were with the people they were supposed to be with, the officers of the Coral Springs Police Department.
Look, you would have a point if they were in Boca Raton and just happened to hear the call and showed up on their own.
But that is not what happened.
I am going to add that the only PD with people directly involved in this whole thing who acted even close to appropriately is the Coral Springs PD and these two officers from Miami.
The rest of the police departments in the area seem to be in a race to prove how very little they care about the public.
Right now the Broward County Sheriff's Office is well in the lead with the FBI in second but with this Miami is making a brave showing.
If nothing else this proves again just how stupid it is to count on the police for anything but doing paperwork.
Officers are able to call in while responding. No one is making an excuse or delaying response. Show me where I wanted cops to hesitate. The first guy should have moved in as far as he could.
You are either obtuse or you don’t understand first responder technique at all/
Go to your room and with 100 times. I will let someone know my location as i respond to an emergency. Maybe it will c0me to you that getting cop trapped in a set up is not really what you want to do.
