The government has also launched a website in the country’s official languages of French, Dutch and German to tell people what to do in an emergency as it begins implementing plans announced two years ago. {snip}

Pharmacies interviewed by Belgian media said they had begun receiving some of the 4.5 million boxes of 10 iodine pills – which help reduce radiation build-up in the thyroid gland – that were ordered by the government.

Belgium’s creaking nuclear plants have been stirring concerns at home and across its borders after a series of problems ranging from leaks to cracks and an unsolved sabotage incident.

Sounds to me like something did happen already and they’re trying to keep a panic from starting.

Anyone who even remotely considers themselves a prepper should have a bottle of KI, potassium iodide, on the shelf.

Any FReeper who doesn’t have Iodine Pills should have their head examined. Very cheap, last a long time, and protects the first thing to otherwise go south in a nuclear fallout event - the thyroid.

Obviously not much use if you happen to be at Ground Zero, and likely not much use if China and the US decide to exchange half our arsenals, but can easily mean survival if there are a few back and forth with Mr. Kim or Iran.

Yeah, I thought this was an odd “precautionary” event.

Does sound like something already happened. Don’t know if anyone has taken measurements or not.
