It is worse than that. Simmons College has a very well know MLS program (Master of Library Science). So this nonsense is being passed on to a good number of future librarians.
Librarians-get behind the circulation desk and check out books. Update your data bases, do all you can do to encourage people to read. But does your job description say anything about political correct speech?
Have they pulled the 220.5 section? That’s the Dewey decimal number for the Bible.
Well, I suppose you know that the Koran is in Arabic, and translations of it are considered to be only “guides” or “explanations” of it. My “Quran” was left at my house one time, some years ago, hanging from the knob of my side garage door.
I suppose that this was considered to be a form of obeisance, ( That is, going to the side door, ) but it could be seen as a sort of veiled threat, ... like we could get you if we wanted to .. although I don’t believe this was the intention.
As a bibliophile, I have kept and preserved this document, along with the single sheet insert explaining that it is a “free gift from the Muslim Community.”
I have not perused it, but it only takes the most idle inspection to make one’s hair stand on end. Here is my honest report of a single experiment, on this current occasion, at a random page selection:
Sura 11.113. And do not lean ( or move ) towards those who do wrong, or the Fire will catch up to you; And you have no protectors other than Allah, then you shall not be helped.
... this is the gist of the whole thing. Mere browbeating.
Read up on the activities of the ALA (American Library Ass).
They want all materials (including a hypothetical library subscription to Playboy for the articles like an interview with President Jimmy Carter or the Sin City Sado-Sexual DVD) to be available to all patrons of any age without parental notification or consent.
Name a position and they are to the left of it.
They are uberleft.
http://www.ala.org/news/member-news/2017/07/ala-council-resolution-global-climate-change
At the 2017 Annual Conference in Chicago, ALA Council passed a resolution calling for libraries to preserve and make available factual, scientific data, information and literature both from government and citizen sources pointing to evidence of global climate change.
The resolution is in response to the current Administrations removal of data and information files on global climate change from the websites of the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the White House Action Plan on Climate Change. The information base on global climate change is large and growing, and there is a need for libraries and librarians to adopt sustainable practices and to promote support and advocate for the promotion and understanding of the cross-disciplinary exchange of resources and ideas related to global climate change.
This resolution had previously been discussed and passed at the June 8, 2017 Virtual Membership Meeting and then brought to Council at the Annual Conference.
Opposing investigations in materials accesses by suspected terrorists
https://www.israelnationalnews.com/Articles/Article.aspx/13691
...A delegation of eighteen librarians and archivists travelled to Israel, including Judea and Samaria, on June 22nd. They were led by Hannah Mermelstein, a leader of the International Solidarity Movement (ISM).
Mermelstein, a librarian herself and almost full-time ISM anti-Israel activist, was deported from Israel years ago after it was determined that she was altering road signs to read “Palestine”, among other subversive ISM activities, including smuggling potential terrorist Arabs past checkpoints
Mermelstein founded Birthright Unplugged, a program designed to take visitors to Israel on propaganda tours that claim to show how Israel is abusing the Palestinians, focussed on targeting Birthright participants to turn them against Israel.
These recent delegates were, in part, from the American Library Association in the US, but in particular they represented a roundtable of radical communists and anti-Semites in the Association who hate Israel...
I’ve had the same experiences as you relate; most will at least say Bless you. But I’ve noticed that more and more won’t say it due to the PC pressure.
Liberals are under some kind of mass induced spell. Please see my tagline.
Their histronics of pretending to be upset are a macroagression
><M
Yes, and very offensive to normal people.
So, what are they going to do about it?
><><
Lol Good one.
These loons always have cases of selective indignation.
More than just a few people need a good, solid ass kicking these days.
L
Well bless their little pea-pickin’ hearts.
So?
Yes, they do, but I gotta ask the same question that Dsrtsage asked. Would these ass hats 🎩 prefer we say Allah bless you?
BOOKMAN: I remember when the librarian was a much older woman: Kindly, discreet, unattractive. We didn’t know anything about her private life. We didn’t want to know anything about her private life. She didn’t have a private life.
Thank you for the information on the ALA. I knew it was a leftist organization but until you post I did not realize how left they were. I know of two recent librarians that were hired at a college. Both are left of center but most of the other candidates were bitter chips on both shoulders moonbat
far leftists.
They probably just wanted to use the word "Islamomisic".
When someone sneezes is it ok to say, off with your head you unclean infidel?
D@mned right that hanging Koran was a threat. Be armed & be ready; Muslims hate you & want you dead if you do not `submit’.
There’s a mosque across the street from my high-rise & I’ve gotten some dirty looks from the beard & burka crowd. I smile back with my hand in my pocket wrapped around what CCW allows. Nine pills delivered instantly on demand.
Deus vult!
Would Muslim suicide bombers or beheaders count as micro aggressors, or is that too harsh to even ask?
