"Shape of Water" is a terrible movie. It is supposedly set in 1962 in the middle of the Kennedy administration. It is about a mute girl who works as a cleaning woman in a weird, secret U.S. government laboratory. She befriends a large, male lizard type creature who lives under water. She kidnaps him from the lab, brings him back to her apartment and has sex with him.
The director espoused his leftist, anti-American views in his acceptance speech.

Wow. Guillermo Del Toro doesn’t have an excessively high opinion of himself, does he?

One way to bring hell on earth is to have a one world government. And in case you don’t like it you can emigrate to Mars or the moon.
Maybe Musk isn’t so crazy after all.

UCK. Sex with lizards? No thanks. You wouldn’t see me at a movie like that if it were the only film playing. The fact that it took the big prize tells you all about the depravity of Hollyweird.

I read some reviews, watched the last scene.

I'm still shocked that this film, which is basically a sci-fi movie, won an Oscar for best picture.
Sci-fi movies have traditionally looked down on by Hollyweird at Oscar time.
There must be something political about the movie that the usual Hollyweirdos like.
