Back in 1964, historian Richard Hofstadter wrote The Paranoid Style in American Politics. If the book is ever made into a movie, Joe Scarborough could be cast in the title role.
For on todays Morning Joe, Scarborough contended that President Trump was speaking seriously when he said that we might have to give a shot at the establishment of a president-for-life in the United States.
Scarborough:
This is important. When Republicans, Gene [Robinson] are saying its just a joke, or when Republicans ignore the fact that this man is talking about being President-for-life. If they think that Donald Trump is joking, then theyre fools. And I dont think theyre fools.

Prediction; The Trump presidency will be so successful, that people will want him to stay in office as long as possible.

FDR?
A democrat, true. But a piker.
Woodrow Wilson, democrat, was a president after death did him in.
And Kennedy, democrat, was daunted before death did him in.

True. I’d forgotten that. FDR was in his first term when I was born. I remember when he died. The principle of our grade school came into the room and told the teacher to turn on the radio, which was full of FDR’s passing. Harry S. Truman was sworn in soon after and WWII went on.

Funny, it was just fine when OBAMA floated the idea of revoking the term limitation of the Presidency. . .

President for Life? Thanks, no. We’ve already had one, and we changed the Constitution to make sure we’d never have another Franklin Delano Roosevelt.

No it really is much ado about nothing. Anyone who thinks it is "important" is _really_ stupid.
