Less than a month after a school shooting that killed 17 people, several celebrities are reportedly planning to use the Oscars as a platform to raise awareness for gun control.
People magazine reports that a group of A-listers will don orange pins from Everytown for Gun Safety, a nonprofit organization that advocates for gun control and works to reduce gun violence.
Orange is the unofficial color that has come to be associated with various gun-control causes. Everytown sells orange American flag pins on its website, but it's not immediately clear if those are the exact pins that will be worn during the demonstration.

If Hollywood was serious about their position on guns, they should ban them in movies and from awards. Otherwise, they really are hypocrites. How can they tell us we can’t own firearms, and then have glorified gun violence in movies. They need to be called out. Put up or shut up.
They are better people than you are because they wear a pin to show they care more than you do.

Only a few diehards are going to groan through it this year.
(In fact, Hollywood got rich doing it.)
Making movies where 50+ people are shot by every type of gun. Movies where every problem is solved with a gun or some other form of violence. They could stop that themselves.
That would require intelligence to develop content, please give it another thought.
No bulletproof limos.
Yeah, like they wore black (a flattering, slimming color) to protest sexual harassment. Why don’t they have “wear no makeup at the awards shows for gun control”? “Wear sweats and an old pair of jeans for gun control”? No, they’ll wear a little pin on their designer gowns and pat themselves on their backs for their wonderfulness.
The Oscars? Are they still being awarded? For what?
Americans are more interested in hearing what is in the $100,000 goodie bags the attendees are given.
One year vibrating dildos were handed out. Seems appropriate.
>>The Oscars? Are they still being awarded? For what?
Lifetime achievement.
“Well this may not be your BEST movie and it may not even be the BEST performance you gave THIS YEAR (see Dennis Hopper in Blue Velvet vs his win in Hoosiers) but you haven’t gotten one yet and were really good in so many different things...”
They don’t call it a lifetime achievement award in those cases though. How queer it all is that Olympia Dukakis’ reign as an Oscar winner only happened while Michael Dukakis was running for the White House. Her career was a blip otherwise.
Poor Skeet. What DID he do?
“We have a major wardrobe malfunction!”
***red pins to protest needless violence in films***
Hey, watch it man! It was the murder of Bobby Kennedy back in 1968, blamed on the “glorification of violence” hysteria that got the movie industry to throw off the remnants of the Hayes Code, adopt a joke of a ratings system. then reshoot scenes to add more blood, gore and sex to obtain the coveted “R” rating for films.
Trying to deflect blame for all the sexual attacks on Women that they do (Democrats all.)
yesss! you know they will, b/c they are THAT important. Us, not so much.
