You’re right about that. I’m friends with a woman whose uncle, a cop, was killed by a famous Black Liberation radical. Every time celebrities and other Libs start taking up the radical’s cause or talk about the incident in a way that distorts what happened and disparages her uncle, it causes the family (a blue collar family without a lot of money) a lot of pain.
I feel for them. While being part of the problem. I watch a lot of documentaries and movies about these major culturally scarring events. I’d probably look at the whole industry differently if I was actually tied to one of those events, I can conceptualize the pain, but I don’t feel it myself.
