The naming of winter storms is a weather channel thing. These are not officially recognized by the National weather service.

I can't wait until they start naming summer hot temperature "events". I can just see it now "Sun storm - Adam" or maybe they'll try to do what they did with dust storms, use arab names no one else uses (haboob - No one here calls a dust anything but a dust storm).

I see more and more NWS forecasts as severe warnings, wheres it used to be just rain or snow. And the result is just rain or snow, not a debilitating storm
They then use this to promote more GW bs - “see the increase in severe weather, we must do something!”
