I keep seeing these newbs telling everyone to calm down, and trust Trump is "playing" the opposition

Newbs? These are life time members of the Trumpette Support Group.

Sometimes you have to stand up for what is right even when your team is the one doing the fouling.

“Watching 80 something y/o Feinsweine having an orgasm “

Just ... eeewww!!”

She is running for re-election, and probably will win. If she lives through the six year term she will be 91 years old. WTF is wrong with these people, and worst the voters that keep trotting these people out again and again. I won’t have a chance to vote for a Republican Senatorial Candidate in California in all likelihood (top two primary vote getters go to the Nov. General) So I will vote for whomever is the 2nd Rat on the ballot which will probably be De Leon.

Sad isn’t it. She should retire and enjoy life...as much as a shriveled hag can.

Generally speaking, lifers will "advise" on a point they know they can't prove; newbs will actually try to "argue" it.

At least that's been my impression. I've really only crossed keyboards with people who've been here less than five years so far.

At the very least, assuming he IS playing the democrats, I’m not exactly comfortable with the level of naked duplicity on Trump’s part such a strategy would indicate.

What? Trump duplicitous? Really? You could have fooled me.

Seriously though, I hope it’s duplicity vis-a-vis the Democrats rather than his supporters. Given Democratic antics on law and order and immigration, among other things, I have no issue with any amount of political maneuvering, as long as it’s used to advance his campaign promises.

Who is getting played by Trump?

...

He’s a very stable genius, which is why the question has to be asked.

Fake news media is angry Trump pulled a fast one on them earlier in the week.

If anything this should teach the Democrats the folly of accepting an invitation from the White House to participate in a bipartisan meeting on anything. This is the third time they've left one convinced they've reached a deal where the President is on their side only to have Trump say, "Ha, ha, fooled you again."

I know these have to be amusing for the President but he should just stop wasting his time on bipartisan media events. Nothing will ever come from them.

Trump had a lunch meeting with NRA leaders last Sunday -- including Cox and NRA CEO Wayne LaPierre ...

There is an impasse here.

How is this sound business practice? What kind of deal making is this, when one of the parties is disingenuous? Dems will have figured it out.

They are ideologues, not stupid. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.

While I understand, and to some degree sympathize, with your point, I make great distinction between tough negotiating and “bad faith” negotiating.

That Schumer is asking for more today than Trump was offering yesterday seems to indicate a misstep on Trumps part to me.

“One can only hope, because it sure looks like he screwed the pooch yesterday.”

Based on everything I have heard and seen from trump, his “just take the guns” makes perfect sense.

I bet the parents of the victims wished LE had just taken the guns.

Due process, due smocess.

His point was we have to move faster than the system allows to save lives.

Trump interest is in stopping the next slaughter.

Yeah, he got a little loose with his tongue but his heart is in the right place.

Everybody freakin’ relax.

a liar who said and acted like he wanted to gut the 2nd Amendment, but didn’t really mean it.

If that is in fact Trump’s strategy, I have no issues with it, since it’s the mirror image of the Democratic strategy. Say one thing, do another, and paint your opponent as an extremist. But it’s not clear that’s what he’s doing, given his past statements on RKBA issues.

How did they get played on DACA?

Are you saying DACA is no more?

Tell us what you know!

His point was we have to move faster than the system allows to save lives.

Nonsense. The problem is that the system didn't "move" at all. He could have been referred for evaluation on numerous occasions, he wasn't. Had he been deemed a threat to self and others, his life with legal firearms would have been over. "Just take the guns" is tyranny.

Yes, the mental health system could well determine he isn't a threat, in which case he could own guns.

BTW, your apparent assumption that Donald Trump is President in perpetuity is mistaken. As is any belief that there will be only conservative, pro-gun Presidents in the future. I'd suggest under President Hillary, were non due process confiscation available, they'd be targeting deplorables, conservatives and veterans long before targeting minorities.

Maybe said parents should be the ones taking the initiative, no??

Relying upon govt got us *all* this outcome. Those (step)parents should hang their hang in shame.

‘See something, say something’ doesn’t excuse them for doing NOTHING but raising the flag (no follow-up, no confiscation, no intervention, no XYZ).

So what did Trump mean when he told you "it's time?"

I saw a point here the other day that I may start to believe. I knew Trump as a self-promoter and a Democrat (self-proclaimed) prior to running for president.

I have supported the vast majority of his actions since becoming president, and is definitely GREAT for America and American values.

However, I've always been one that believed a man is only as good as his word.

The comment on FR the other day that said Words are meaningless tools in negotiation by Trump resonated with me. If Trump truly puts no value in words, then I'm comfortable with his actions, and believe he will not infringe on the 2nd Amendment.

That is of course, until he does, at which time, I would not support him. That doesn't mean voting for another candidate, but it could mean not voting for him.
