President Trump: Confiscate Guns Now, Worry About Due Process Later
The Truth About Guns ^ | 02/28/18 | Robert Farago

Posted on 02/28/2018 3:59:56 PM PST by Simon Green

“President Trump on Wednesday voiced support for confiscating guns from certain individuals deemed to be dangerous, even if it violates due process rights,” thehill.com reports. ‘I like taking the guns early, like in this crazy man’s case that just took place in Florida … to go to court would have taken a long time,’ Trump said at a meeting with lawmakers on school safety and gun violence. ‘Take the guns first, go through due process second,'” This he said despite . . .

Vice President Pence’s caution on gun confiscation.

Trump was responding to comments from Vice President Pence that families and local law enforcement should have more tools to report potentially dangerous individuals with weapons.

“Allow due process so no one’s rights are trampled, but the ability to go to court, obtain an order and then collect not only the firearms but any weapons,” Pence said.

“Or, Mike, take the firearms first, and then go to court,” Trump responded.

Here are some more choice Presidential quotes from the firearms chin-wag:

“Don’t worry about adding in the bump stock ban, I’ll do that myself — fortunately we are able to handle that without going through Congress.”

“The background chekcs are so important….people are afraid to do background checks because they’re afraid of….somebody. ….I don’t care who’s endorsing you, you’re going to be MORE popular if you do it.”

“It takes so long going to court to get due process – I like taking the guns early — so I like what you’re saying, but take the guns first, go through due process second”

“Some people don’t like the word comprehensive….I like the word comprehensive. I’d rather have a comprehensive bill. Can you merge yours into this bill or would you rather have a Fix NICS bill?”

“It would be really nice to create something that’s beautiful, that works.”

“What surprises me is that nothing has been done for so many years…I don’t understand why this hasn’t happened for the last 20 years…..there is so much commonality between Republicans and Democrats.”

You can be sure that if our opposition gets into power they will want to declare Conservatives crazy to confiscate our guns. This isn’t a good idea at all. It well could be used against us. Then our blood would flow like rivers in the streets.

Horsesh$t. You sound just like a Democrat, take a sound byte turn it around and use it to bash somebody. when it absolutely wasn’t what he meant. If you read it you know he’s talking about Cruz and how everything was mishandled. So take your other s*** and shove it. President Trump does not want to take guns away from law-abiding citizens.

“It takes so long going to court to get due process – I like taking the guns early — “
Cannot deny a citizen of due process.
The time it takes is of no consequence.
The nut cases need to be identified
BEFORE they fill out a form to purchase
a weapon. If said crazy person is hell
bent on taking human lives, trucks, b*mbs,
knives, baseball bats, acid to the face,
poison, or Bic pens, could be a weapon of
choice. Can’t ban everything.

What this country needs is more gun laws; heck, we only have 30,000 now.

You’re going to have to rephrase that into a coherent question.

Kind of ironic that so many who bitch that the “authorities” didn’t do what they needed to do, which is ensure the nut job didn’t have access/freedom to commit the murders, now flip and say that the one thing they could have done is illegal/unconstitutional.....the laws are in favor of the mentally ill - w/o breaking the current laws, controlling the mentally ill is impossible....

Spare us your posturing.

If the laws that would have stopped the shooter weren’t enforced, why is the answer ignoring more laws?

Talk about hypocrisy....

Such nonsense...they needed to do their job long before he came of age to buy firearms. If they had dealt with the whackjob years before, we wouldn't be here discussing this.

So, what’s your solution to getting guns out of the hands of the nutcases that we know are nutcases but who are protected by laws from the same folks who want to take our guns away? Nut cases get to refuse treatment and can’t legally be held if they can say, “Let me go”..

And what could they have done that would have actually prevented him from getting weapons and taking them to school? Have you ever been involved with trying to commit someone for being a danger to themselves and others under current “Let the loonies do as they wish” laws? I have and it’s next to impossible as long as they are able to communicate.

Yeah I think Trump is playing long ball politically. He gets to look “reasonable” to leftists. The only thing he’s promised to do is the stupid bump stocks which nobody had really heard of until Las Vegas. If Democrats and Republicans actually DO come up with a bill to sign they’re going to put SOMETHING in there that will be SO unAmerican that Trump will have to veto it.

Here’s an idea; how about we enforce the laws we already have, and depose any elected official that refuses to enforce those laws!

Furthermore, it is utterly asinine to petulantly ask “well what’s your solution” and ignore the fact that law enforcement refused to do its job to get increased federal funding!

If you can’t think of a better way to solve problems than doing away with due process, sit down, shut up, and stop interrupting the adults when we’re talking.

What laws do we have that would do what we're talking about?

Take the blinders off - the picture is a lot bigger than what you are able to admit - the real problem is that when the Dems turned all the mental cases loose and made it next to impossible to do anything to control them, the whole ball of wax started melting down - just as they planned because they need all the nut jobs loose to help build their arguments.

Now who’s being obtuse?

Any felony conviction means no guns. Any domestic violence means no guns. Any failed background check means no guns. Any judgement of mental incompetence means no guns.

But before most any of that to work THEY HAVE TO MAKE AN ARREST!

No. This is a clear violation of the Fourth, Fifth, and Fourteenth Amendments.

The first thing tyrants do is confiscate guns.
