Dear FReepers and Lurkers;
As you all know, we are in the midst of another Freep-a-thon. The going is slower than we would like, but we are getting there.
FReepers have stood by this forum for decades now. That's because we use this as a major source of news here in the United States and from around the world. We know that we will read what was reported, and discuss it. If the MSM is trying to slip something by, one or more of our FReepers will catch it and address it. If something isn't reported, our FReepers will raise the issue on the forum. Then we will discuss that. Some folks from overseas come here to get the straight scoop. Free Republic is a global source for information and discussion that will lead to reasoned domestic and international political policy. FReepers are on top of things, always!
Free Republic is a great place where we read and debate issues, sometimes more heatedly than we should. At the end of the day, we all want what is best for our nation, and our goal is to support the U. S. Constitution, self rule, national sovereignty, the ability to live our lives in freedom, and defend ourselves if and when the time arises. We believe there is a right and a wrong. We believe there is a global Leftist movement trying to wreak havoc in the Western Nations. We stridently object. We are trying to motivate people to think, and most of us have fallen in behind President Trump at this time. We think he has the best platform we've seen in a long time, and he seems to be dedicated to implementing most of it.
You know folks, FReep-a-thons are a part of life here. We don't want outside influences dictating what types of news and views we'll post here, so Jim and FReepers have chosen to support the forum through donations rather than selling advertising. If we did take advertisers, we would be subject to blackmail, if we didn't adhere to their values, and not our own.
For many years our FReep-a-thons came and went in a little over 30 days. Then it started taking longer and longer to retire them. That's a shame really, because the forum has been and is there for us almost every day, and we take advantage of it.
It seems as if folks think we have 90 days to complete the FReep-a-thon, so there is no rush. In truth, we need to step up and end these fund raisers in a much more timely fashion. THIS HAS TO HAPPEN.
Jim and his crew work tirelessly to facilitate the FReep-a-thons, but that does not mean they are not drained by it. What should be wrapped up in a few days, is now taking about 75. This means that Jim and his crew have to focus on the fund raiser about ten weeks instead of one. These turn into very draining efforts over time. And when the last FReep-a-thon is retired, in a week or two, they have to start all over. That isn't right, and we know it. Jim and his crew should be able to spend time on other things.
You know, the goal in front of us isn't that daunting. We need to set a goal of funding 100% of the FReep-a-thon by monthlies. When this happens, our quarterly duty will be fully accomplished in under a week. We pay our other life choices on time. It's time we started paying Free Republic on time.
Right now we have $13,012.83 in monthlies. When we started this campaign, we had $12,785.83 in monthlies. We've started the improvement already. FReepers have gone to the donations page, and set it up so their desired donation comes out once per month. In truth, we are currently paying 44.362% of our FReep-a-thon goal by monthlies. You know, that's actually pretty good. Of course we can and must do better, but we will.
It's more or less painless for me. I set up the amount and it's taken at the same time each month. I don't even miss it. I don't sweat the FReep-a-thons, because I've decided to take care of it automatically. I don't have to worry when I'll pay. I selected an amount I could afford. I placed the amount in my home finance budget, and it works like a charm.
Why do I say the goal isn't that daunting? Here's why. To reach the next goal (level), which is 50% of the FReep-a-thon monthly total, not everyone has to join in a more elevated level of donation. Take a look at the donation levels. Give it some thought, and enter where it's comfortable. If you're already donating, perhaps it's time to give some thought to making an increase in your donation.
We need to take a look at what is reasoned for us, and act accordingly. The title of the thread is appropriate. It's exactly what needs to be said. "Monthlies, the Campaign to Expand Them Painlessly" You know folks, there have been times when money was short in my household. I was unable to help out. If you have found yourself in that circumstance, I certainly understand having been there. Later on, when you can, give some thought to joining then, when it's painless.
Here's the breakdown I worked out:
CURRENT | NEXT GOAL* | AMOUNT NEEDED | FOR | NEXT LEVEL
$13,012.83 | $14,666.67 | $1,653.84 | 50%* | * NEXT GOAL

$5.00 | $10.00 | $20.00 | $34.00 | $68.00 | $100.00 | $250.00 | YOUR DONATION AMOUNT
17 | 13 | 10 | 17 | 5 | 2 | 1 | NUMBER OF DONORS NEEDED AT THIS AMOUNT | 63

Come on folks, lets end this FReep-a-thon...
...and say yes to monthlies...
Let's get to the place where our FReep-a-thons last only a few days.
Conservatively party on FReepers...
I tried to donate this morning but it wouldn’t let me go past the address page on the credit card payment. There is no option for U.S. in the drop down. There is a box next to it with U.S. but it would not accept that. Kept telling me I needed to put in U.S. in the drop down.
Thanks TStro.
I’ll see what can be done to help you.
Thank you very much, TStro!! The default country is USA. You only need to click the Non-US button if you’re choosing a different country. But there does seem to be a problem with the system today. John’s working on it right now and hopefully he’ll have it fixed soon. Sorry.
I’m beginning to get a little worried as I mailed my check in must’ve been close to three weeks ago and still haven’t received the acknowledgment/receipt from Amy.
This wouldn’t be the first time either. A couple of years ago I sent a donation that must’ve been lost in the mail or something. It never showed up on my bank statement either.
You know, those things can happen.
Honestly, I’ve had 100% success rate with the USPS.
For all the ribbing they take, I can’t recall anything lost
I transact all my payments online. Either I authorize them to take a payment, or I sign on to the account a day or two before the due date, and I pay at their site.
Your problem is one reason why. Although I don’t expect the USPS to fail, I just feel more comfortable making a payment online with a tracking number.
Well folks, the donation link is under repair at the moment.
Thank you very much, Ammo Republic 15! Your check was in the batch of checks Amy picked up at the PO box Tuesday and I posted yesterday ( https://freerepublic.com/focus/news/3636053/posts?page=18#18 ). Very sorry about the delay. Amy goes to the PO box weekly and your check must’ve arrived after she picked up the prior week. Thanks again, we appreciate your support very much.
Thank YOU boss!
Thanks Jim.
(This is my second attempt to post this. I must have made an error a few hours ago.)
