BISMARCK, N.D. - The first of what is expected to be many polls looking at the U.S. Senate candidates for North Dakota was released Tuesday, showing incumbent Sen. Heidi Heitkamp, D-N.D., with a narrow lead over Rep. Kevin Cramer, R, N.D.

Heitkamp leads Cramer 43 to 40 with 17 percent of voters still undecided, which is unsurprising as the election is still months away.

The poll was conducted online by Gravis Marketing with 385 respondents and a margin of error of 5 percentage points. Heitkamp trails among Trump supporters by a wide margin but has a lead among white voters. Cramer has a tight with older voters.

“I think North Dakota is a key state if the Democrats are going to win the Senate this year they have to win North Dakota. It's a state that many think that the Republicans will pick up based on how Trump formed in North Dakota,” said Doug Kaplan, Gravis Marketing.

The poll also looked at the House race which shows Tom Campbell leading the pack at 28 percent of voters. Kelly Armstrong is in second with 13 percent, but nearly half of voters are undecided.

I don’t think this will necessarily be a bad thing. We need to get the bad blood out of the GOP, and this is certainly one way to do it.

And don’t worry about Impeachment, not going to happen. Now Trump can focus on handling the Democrats, instead of having to fight both the Democrats and the GOP. And I think it will put him ultimately in a better position to win re-election with Republican gains in 2020.

Is Graham up for reelection this cycle?

No, he is not. And that is the point. Dems dump big money into attack the GOP not even up for reelection. The GOP can barely be bothered to run ads during campaign season. Heitkamp should be getting hammered NOW with paid media for opposing the tax cuts. I’d bet my house she isn’t.

The Rats are defending all but eight of the Senate seats that are up this November.Ten of the twenty five they're defending are in states carried by DJT.

Both candidates are well known and well liked and with the exact same constituents since North Dakota has a single House seat. Therefore, a barrage of positive ads needs to hit the airwaves to solidify Berg’s positives to start with, which should continue as negative ads trickle in to increase Heitkamp’s negatives while protecting Berg’s positives. Then, of course, you need GOTV.

And Minnesota he didn’t lose by much.

Tammy Baldwin is pledging to lead the fight to repeal the tax cuts, which has resulted in reduction in utility bills in Wisconsin. That should be used against her.

Same for Bush, but they would also simultaneously vote strongly for Dems at the same time. South Dakota has since changed (they finally dumped Daschle in 2004) - hopefully North Dakota is going to as well.
