The FOUR ARMED DEPUTIES had to have been in radio contact with the department the whole time.

1) were they ordered to stand down
or
2) were they ordered to enter and disobeyed orders?

And who gave whichever order it was?
Where was the sheriff? On the crapper reading Hillary’s book?

My early impression of Sheriff Israel was that he was a little too full of himself. In spite of the tragic circumstances he seemed to revel in all the attention he was getting ... my prediction he’s gone in the next few days.

Give the guy a break. He’s only responsible for hiring, training, and equipping his deputies. Just because they perform poorly at their jobs and make horrible decisions and countless mistakes is no reason for him to resign. After all, he’s the only competent person in the department and provides amazing leadership to his staff. /S!!!

Israel has been the subject of 10 internal affairs complaints, mainly for excessive force, although he was cleared in all of them. He served a stint as a SWAT commander and was North Bay Village chief of police from 2004 to 2008, but left to run for sheriff in 2008 and 2012. Israel eventually won in 2012, and easily won re-election in 2016.

He's up for re-electon this year, hopefully the County GOP finds a good opponent.
