Kerik: Broward Sheriff Should Resign {NYC Police Commissioner on 9/11]
NewsMax ^ | February 24, 2018 | Wanda Carruthers

Former New York City Police Commissioner Bernard Kerik said it was "outrageous" if reports were confirmed that four Broward County sheriff's deputies failed to enter the Parkland, Florida, high school during a February 14 shooting that claimed 17 lives.

"It's outrageous. I've never heard anything like this before,".... "If these reports are true, these deputies are constitutionally bound to engage the shooter to protect the students," Kerik added.

He said the deputies should be investigated by the Florida attorney general's office, not by an interagency probe of the Broward County Sheriff's Department. If they neglected their duty, he maintained they should be charged with "criminally negligent homicide."

Kerik, who was New York's police commissioner when the 9/11 terrorist attacks took place in 2001, said it was the nature and duty of law enforcement officers to "run into the buildings" during violent incidents. Earlier on Saturday, Kerik called for Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel to "step down" following reports that four of his deputies failed to enter the Marjory Stoneman High School during the shooting.

"Yesterday after hearing that the resource officer failed to respond, I said that it couldn't get any worse, and now this. At this point, the Sheriff of Broward County should not be investigating this event - the Florida Attorney General should take over. The Sheriff should step down!" Kerik, who is now CEO of The Kerik Group, LLC, posted on his Facebook page Saturday.

"This department needs new leadership and obviously training. There are 17 people dead because of catastrophic failures by the local, state and federal government, but the cowardice by sworn law enforcement personnel is unfathomable," Kerik's post continued. Scott Israel is firmly locked into his political position as the sheriff (D) and is refusing to step down. He states that he's doing an amazing job; he's a hero in his own mind.

"Kerik: Broward Sheriff Should Resign {NYC Police Commissioner on 9/11]"

No way! He has not ruined enough institutions, families, or lives yet. Not to mention he has not made sufficient financial arrangements for theft of grants, nor hired his quota of friends, relatives, and social change advocates outlined in his Obamatopia seminar handouts.

Oh my, Sheriff Israel’s incompetence could have had Cruz go in there with an ordinary single shot gopher gun or even hunting knife and a similar bloody toll would likely have been achieved. Certainly fireable material, IMHO.

It was an Obama operation from the start. Trying to artificially alter minority and youth crime statistics by offering reward bucks to participating cities. Despicable.

from all that i have read the school board and the sheriff office deal making let this fester into this tragedy. All should be investigated and sentences handed down if laws have been broken.

To go after only the four deputies that may have been following edicts from BOTH the school and the sheriff office is wrong.

Go after the root cause

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student David Hogg came to the defense of the armed resource officer who never entered the Parkland, Florida school where 17 people were killed in a mass shooting, asking, “Who wants to go down the barrel of an AR-15, even with a glock?”

"If these reports are true, these deputies are constitutionally bound to engage the shooter to protect the students,"

He would have to point at the line in the Constitution which says that. He might be bound by human morality or by Florida law, but I see nothing in the Constitution about any police duty to protect us. Just as the courts have stated.

I am so sickened by the last respondents at the Broward Sheriff’s department. They sat out side while 17 innocent students and teachers were slaughtered . I think it is criminal negligence and they should be indicted and tried along with that pathetic sheriff. This is why we all should have concealed permits. Don’t rely on law enforcement to do anything but pick up their checks and count days to retirement.

He said the deputies should be investigated by the Florida attorney general's office, not by an interagency probe of the Broward County Sheriff's Department. If they neglected their duty, he maintained they should be charged with "criminally negligent homicide."

One suspects that along with criminal charges, some rather steep-summed law suits just might already be in the works.

One wonders if the Coward County sheriff might be included in such suits.

Unfortunately not much will come of this... He will get his pension, the insurance company will make a few payments, taxpayers will eat it and a year from now it will be the families and gun owners still dealing with it..

Supreme Court Ruled Police have no requirement for individual..... Justices Ruled Police Do Not Have a Constitutional Duty to Protect Someone. Settled law unfortunately. Add in this was government property, not private property, thus you the individual have less than zero rights.

Keep up the good work though.. You definitely make my day often with your work!
