These California agents are coming for your guns
Washington Compost ^ | February 24, 2018 | Scott Wilson

...A broad, bald Tennessean, Richardson runs a six-person team of California Justice Department agents who are coming for your guns, but only if you no longer have the legal authority to own one in this state that has tightened firearm laws in increments over the years.

His division is the only law enforcement agency in the country assigned specifically to track down and take guns from felons, the mentally ill and others whose Second Amendment rights have been curtailed in court because of public safety concerns. That is, the people who even the National Rifle Association says should not have guns, a statement echoing in the aftermath of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Fla. The program makes California’s gun-control policy perhaps the most aggressive in the nation.

“I sure hope you never make enemies with a neighbor? One who is anti second amendment and claims you threatened him or her? “

That requires some substantiation outside a domestic relationship. No he said - he said.

I don’t know. I just know that’s what they told him. He said they were very nice to him but my brother is not your typical criminal look alike or thug. He was NorCal Division manager for a huge Fortune 500 company.

I had a handgun stolen from my home back in 1988. In 1996 I got a phone call and visit from the FBI. It seems the local police were obtaining stolen guns to use as drop pieces to frame people when wanted. My gun was one used to frame an undercover FBI agent posing as a thug in North Philadelphia. The agent was part of a sting to rid Philly of corrupt cops in the Northeast Detectives Division.

The process was quite fascinating. I did get my gun back. I had to go to the Philadelphia police headquarters and sign for it. I disassembled it and took it home in pieces. I did not have a carry permit and was concerned they could take it back from me.

FWIW, the FBI guys were very professional, courteous, and respectful. They answered any questions I had and told me upfront that there were some things they were not allowed to tell me about the case. They did make it a priority that I had the right to recover my weapon.

I bet things are a whole lot different today.

California, where Illegal Invaders hide in plain sight while being give special Rights and Law Abiding Citizens are turned into Overnight Felons every time the Governor signs a Bill sent to him by the La Raza Legislature.

Court order? That makes you feel safe? Because all JUDGES are so frickin Constitution friendly?

Would you want some libtard judge deciding whether your gun could be forcibly taken from you after a bout with depression? Or some completely imaginary complaint because the state just wants your guns?

Court order indeed.

Did they take all the Knives out of the Kitchen?

Did they tale all the heavy Blunt Objects?

Did they take his Golf Clubs?

We’re living in East Germany.

A broad, bald Tennessean, Richardson runs a six-person team of California Justice Department agents who are coming for your guns...

There is a sneering subtext here that reads "remember when we told you nobody was talking about coming for your guns? We were lying." At the moment there are 37 "qualifying" crimes. Does anyone imagine it will stop there? Anyone who does might want to recall the Assault Weapons Ban, originally targeted against nine firearms and expanded deliberately to include entire classes of guns including hundreds of different models.

There really aren't that many political issues in which pure, shameless mendacity is so prevalent. Those that do compare are very dark indeed.

Okay, I challenge you to come up with a realistic solution that solves this problem? Think about the loner without family, friends, clergy? The felon gang-banger? Etc. What about them? These are the very ones committing these crimes, not grandpa who is nearly deaf, blind, and acts like Ron Paul or Ross Perot crazy.

This gun seizure was set up by California’s former AG, who is now California’s junior $inator.

"A broad, bald Tennessean, Richardson runs a six-person team of California Justice Department agents who are coming for your guns..."

I do however have the understanding to read and spot wordsmithing sales tactics.

If this were a counter news article, it would read "A fat, bald, hick from the deep south........."

Just sayin.......

My concern with this is that while we can seek the ideal “shall not be infringed”, if we hang our hat on the mentally challenged, the felons, the gang-bangers, and all, we will lose. “Shall not be infringed” requires accountability and all, just like the first amendment (where I guess not yelling fire in a theater or using fighting words or whatever is comparable). There is a role for the state, as gun owners, do we defend the folks that shouldn’t have guns or find a solution to protect our right to have guns while helping make sure those that shouldn’t do not. You and I are not going to go to our neighbor’s and tell them to get rid of guns or to take them away, who is? Make it personal, if your daughter’s husband becomes violent and waves around his guns, are YOU going to go get them from him or look to the state?

“I sure hope you never make enemies with a neighbor...who is anti second amendment and claims you threatened him or her?”

Excellent point! It’s SWATing by another route and unless false claims are punishable in CA, it’s going to be indiscriminately & ruthlessly applied.

Get out of CA with your guns while you can!

Thanks for posting this realaity.

Your story is exactly what I was told by two of these AG nazis about two years ago.

My wife and I were having lunch outside at one of our favorite restaurant.

A male and female officer in blue uniforms with AG badges set down by our table.

I started a discussion with them and what their job was.

They were people who seized the guns.

I asked based on what evidence did they seize guns. They said court orders, legal situations and reports/complaints by citizens.

My bride of 50+ years, asked, “If I got mad at my husband, and I file a complaint that he could be dangerous, you could seize his guns?”

I added, “What if I had no traffic tickets for decades and zero history of any criminal activities in my lifetime, 7+ decades. What if a neighbor or someone who didn’t like me, filed a complaint or observation that I might be dangerous?”

The guy hesitated, and the female office said “Yes in both cases.

After we left, my wife, who is a big 2nd amendment believer, said that is really scary.

You posted: “That depends. Short story.

“My brother and his wife got in an argument. She called the police and told them he threatened her. (Don’t know if it’s true or not since she is a big lib nut) They arrested him and confiscated all his guns. All of them legal. He goes to court on a ‘terrorist threat’ because that’s what they call them in California now. Judge decides he can’t have his guns back. Brother and wife split up and he moves to another town. About 1 year after the incident these guys pull up in a couple of black SUVs in front of his house and ask him very politely if he has any guns. He says no, the judge took them all. They shoot the breeze for a few minutes and then leave even though they could have legally searched his house. Ex wife now says she’s sorry and hires a lawyer who gets them back into court so she can recant and apologize. Judge takes away the injunction and he can have his guns back now.

Took about 2 1/2 years and lots of money for attorneys for the whole thing.”

I was worried about that, too, but if you read the article you will note that the gun confiscations take place with the usual government efficiency, which is to say it would take them 14,000 years to round up just the guns in California.

Seriously, why would California enforce the law against these people’s guns but not, you know, THEM!

One word. VOTES.

I worked with a guy who’s wife attempted to murder him by cop. She called the county sheriff claiming he was drunk, waiving a gun, and barricaded himself in his garage. When they burst in, he was tying flies, sitting in a recliner in his shop. They blew off his right thumb, a piece of his ear, and a round into his thigh.

Nope. They charged him with the book when they realized they screwed up. That was so the DA had something to use in defensive bargaining. The we drop these charges if you don’t sue us, game. He sued the crap out of them. Not one person lost their job. Stuff like resisting arrest, interfering, etc... The wife got off scot free.
