This was not a rent a cop. This was supposedly a trained person. I bet he was hell on wheels about hunting parents down and harassing them if they dared to pull their kids and put them in another school.

Exactly. Not an "action" job, not homicide, not SWAT, not gangs, not drugs, not even traffic where you might have to fight for yourself occasionally.

If he even felt any sort of emotion for the kids he governed served, he might have gone in... but oh well.
