The sheriffs deputy who failed to engage the shooter at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School believed he did a good job because he called in the location of the massacre and gave a description of the shooter, a top union official said Thursday.
School resource officer Scot Peterson, who resigned in disgrace from the Broward County Sheriffs Office, was distraught about shooting that killed 17 people but believed he did his duty, according to the president of the Broward Sheriffs Office Deputies Association.
He believed he did a good job calling in the location, setting up the perimeter and calling in the description (of Cruz), said the union official, Jim Bell.

I did come back yesterday and responded to roughly 20-30 folks who disagreed and agreed.
After responding to them I posted a note that said I’d made my points on the thread and it would be non-productive to continue responding with the same arguments.
If you’ll look around after my note saying I’d be back, you’ll see that I did come back.
Your “????” made it seem like you had not seen my return.
Take care.
Yes, that was baffling to hear, in light of him trashing that one deputy, I believe by name. What was that all about?
Thank you, and I hope you had a good night too. I did.
Compliance with the Obama guidelines play a role in determining the level of federal funding directed toward schools and law enforcement.
Under Hillary it would have been worse...
This blog is a must-read-has all the dirt on the Broward L/E-school corruption.
Blogger has evidence he will turn over to lawyers filing wrongful death suits-
-but only to those suits that are geared to bankrupting the corrupt Broward system and the individuals running it.

I can’t get the link to open.
Breaking the back of the Broward Coward system sounds awesome!
And he’s had his own personal six-figure salary body guard for years. Probably tripled that protection and is traveling in a fully hammered Hummer by now.
Poor Scott, so much for running the Eff-Bee-Aye like Hillary had promised.
Link worked for me seconds ago........try a double click.
Stupids.
I appreciate the nice start to your post and the additional comments you made. I could respond on point, but I’ve already covered a lot of ground on this thread.
You take the last word here and reference this post up thread.
I made it after coming back to respond to 20-30 people yesterday on the topic.

Thank you for your opposing view.
I’ve pretty much addressed most aspects of this, and after coming back and responding to people yesterday, I signed off this thread.
You have the last say on this one. Take care.

There’s another reason why the Sheriff is rightfully ticked with the SRO.
If you have read the BSO transcripts of the tipsters calls on Cruz you will learn that the calls from 2016 were assigned to the SRO- Peterson.
Those callers had stated Cruz was going to shoot up the school and had the means to accomplish a murdering assault.
The SRO either didn’t investigate Cruz, or he dismissed them. Nothing was done.
And it appears that if the media was not demanding transcripts from BSO under FL Sunshine Laws or BSO officers weren’t leaking information, we would have been none the wiser. I’m sure Sheriff Israel knew all of this when he stood with POTUS acting like a hero in the aftermath.
BSO is much more culpable than the FBI in regard to ignoring an incoming credible lethal threat through the tip line. These threats were in their own backyard and they had visited this same guy way too many times.
Besides, the Sheriff’s triplet sons were graduates of the same MSD school. Had it happened last year, maybe he would have taken the threats more seriously and wanted to protect his own flesh and blood at their high school.
I still am not sure if the shooter was still there when the next 3 deputies arrived, nor even if they believed he was still there.
The police had him in custody or under investigation 30 times.
You’re trying to tell me they relegated all of it to this one deputy on sight?
That sounds like a terrible idea. Thousands of kids there, and they expected this officer to keep track of this one kid even though he wasn’t going to the school? Really?
This sheriff sounds more lame by the day.
Thanks. I don’t either.
Yes, I read each of your postings carefully. And again, I only take exception to the item that I mentioned... Your assertion that an armed deputy would have increased the danger to students.
You’re certainly within your rights to withdraw, but you shouldn’t attempt to group my posts with those that you’ve adequately addressed. It’s not at all the same discussion.
Hugh, I’ve touched on that point from several angles.
I’m content that you disagree at this point. I wasn’t trying to dismiss a point that wasn’t touched. I did address another that seemed to break new ground.
This isn’t against you or anything like that. It’s just that after going back and forth for over 50 posts, it just gets old after a while.
Others have had their say, and I’ve had mine.
I’m not expecting everyone to adopt my position on this. I merely wanted to present my position.
I didn’t mean to imply any animosity. The issue is complex, and that is certain.
I’ll follow suit, and let what’s been posted stand on it’s merits.
Keep yourself safe.
-Hugh
Thanks Hugh. I agree with your take there.
You keep yourself (and your family) safe also. I appreciate the gesture.

The 39 calls over the last few years to BSO that were publicized were from the Cruz residence to 911. It’s likely various detectives responded. I think that 2 cops in particular handled multiple calls from Mrs. Cruz.
The calls that I referred to are to the Crime-stopper’s Broward Tip line. The HS SRO was assigned the incoming calls from the Broward tip line about Cruz’s intent to shoot-up the place.
