One week after a mass shooter Nikolas Cruz murdered 17 people inside Marjory Stoneman Douglas High, Broward's top cop on Thursday revealed a stunning series of failures by the sheriffs department.
A school campus cop heard the gunfire, rushed to the building but never went inside instead waiting outside for another four agonizing minutes as Cruz continued the slaughter.

They are sending cops to trial for doing their jobs now days.
How can we know what this one was up against when he made his decision?
I am devastated, Israel said. Sick to my stomach. He never went in.
You said all I had to say. And probably better.
Here is his picture.

His first name is Scott.
Well, no... His response is because he royally screwed-up time and time again - YOU should give up your guns.
Very true statement. I remember during my NRA training, I was able to shoot and hit the target fairly accurately. But during one session, the instructor fired shots in the air (without me knowing he was going to do that)...I was alarmed and I could not hit the target. Point taken. When stuff is actually going down, I pray I do the right thing.
I have never been in a situation like the one the school officer faced.
But I feel like I would have taken a deep breath and said to myself, This is your moment. Win this. Stop this guy.
And quietly opened the door......
To meet my fate or his.
At Virginia Tech, the cops arrived 3 minutes after the shooting started and then waited five minutes to go into the building, while more people died.
The shooter killed himself immediately after they finally entered the building.
Liberal @$$#013$ in D.C. will oppose and stonewall any federal actions here because they don't want a solution; they want the issue for the mid-terms. (It's the only issue they have at this point.) POTUS can only do so much by executive order.
Regardless of whether FedGov does jack at this point, look for individual states to start implementing concealed carry for teachers and other security measures.
As it should be, really.
Mrs. Sooner was telling me about a school district in Texas that has signs posted in front of each school that says "Some of the teachers in this school are armed, and will do whatever is necessary to protect our students." Not verbatim, but close enough.
That about sums it up. I'm not giving up my AR's for anybody. No way, no how. We're on our own in this rapidly disintegrating country.
If that “resignation” saved a pension, he should be charged, convicted, fired and lose any benefits.
This klown will be responsible for more restrictive gun legislation.
Maybe that was the idea all along.
1. Antigunners put a loser in this position and let another loser shoot up the school
2. Hue and cry about more gun banning
3. Weakling politicians succumb to the pressue
4. Voila! The plan worked!
On Thursday, Israel focused much of his press conference on the school resource officer stationed at the campus, Scot Peterson, who chose to resign after he was suspended without pay. Petersons decision was made after investigators reviewed surveillance footage of the Parkland shooting.
...
A review of surveillance video showed that the deputy was in position and armed but never entered the building. He remained stationed outside the building while the shooting went on.
And, BTW, when is Broward Sheriff Scott Israel resigning? And the school superintendent, school board, and principal? And the FBI management?
Because we actually read the article?
He will claim perhaps justifiably, that he was waiting for back up. The justification is thaat he was ordered to wait
He was outgunned blah blah yada yada
This freaking sheriff takes the cake. Everybody should have done something. Except him.
Mara Liasson on Fox a few minutes ago: “A good guy with a gun was outside and a bad guy with a gun was inside and the good guy with the gun didn’t stop the bad guy with the gun” - right, Mara, like the Air Force with the information didn’t report the bad guy who had been involved in domestic abuse and so the background check didn’t stop him from getting the gun with which he murdered dozens in the church - the best system in the world isn’t foolproof if some fool fails to do what he’s responsible to do......
