The First National Bank of Omaha said Thursday it will not renew a contract with the National Rifle Association to issue its NRA-branded Visa credit card. "Customer feedback has caused us to review our relationship with the NRA," a spokesperson for the bank told CNBC. "As a result, First National Bank of Omaha will not renew its contract with the National Rifle Association to issue the NRA Visa Card." The website advertising the card disappeared on Wednesday, less than one day after ThinkProgress reported the bank's support of the pro-gun lobby. The bank was one of many companies used by the NRA to promote its membership through discounts and bonus deals.

It’s always mass hysteria. Funny... when 50+ people die at a country concert at the hands of a random old man with a lot of money, the liberals are quiet. 17 people, mostly kids, die at a high school to a deranged, known assailant, and they’re frothing at the mouth.
If First National Bank of Omaha can cave to phony pressure that easily, it would be interesting to get a list of all of the branded cards that they handle so that their “customers” for those other cards can pressure them too.
What’s good for the goose, etc.
Maybe First National Bank of Omaha ought to just get out of the branded credit card business right now.
Glad I saw this article I hate weasels and will be closing my account with the this bank ASAP! I will explain that my reasons is because they are spineless!
I wonder how many of the bank’s customers are hunters? NRA members?
This is piss-poor public relations.
Get woke. Go broke.
Make it happen people.
Tried calling them three times....they dropped me off all three times...
+1 - I don't think they'll get a second bite at that apple either. There are plenty of companies that would like the business, especially seeing how the economy is going and how fast money is moving these days.
Who will say, "oops" for them when the time comes?
Maybe USAA will be willing to double brand their credit card.
They don't plan to cancel existing NRA cards I don't think. I certainly plan to cancel mine. And I don't plan to wait long. I use this card for a lot of automatic payments so its going to be a pain to replace.
Is anybody aware of any other pro-gun credit cards?
Closed mine with FNBO today...
My AVERAGE 1000$ per month X 15+ years business with them went bye-bye, and told ‘em why...Lame scripted “We’re sorry to see you go...” corporatese reply from the drone I spoke with...
There will be another bank pick up the NRA account shortly...
I would do just that - you can bet that the ones complaining are a minority on the issue but they are all the bank heard from - actions speak...
