Student survivors of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School who are taking the fight for gun control to the state and national level don’t appreciate seeing their organizing efforts being labeled as a left-wing conspiracy.
“Their sorrow can very easily be hijacked by left-wing groups who have an agenda,” former Rep. Jack Kingston (R-Ga.) told CNN’s “New Day” on Tuesday, specifically naming billionaire and liberal activist George Soros.
“Do we really think 17-year-olds on their own are going to plan a nationwide rally?” the conservative activist continued.
Incensed students went on the air following Kingston’s remarks to defend their activism.
“I think it’s very despicable that he would even have the audacity to say that,” said student survivor Brandon Abzug. “Especially in the wake of a tragedy we really show who we truly are. Just because we’re young we can’t make a difference is not right.”
Abzug called on Kingston to apologize.
Delaney Tarr, another student survivor, added that that amount of support they’ve been receiving is “so overwhelming.”
“We are being given this platform and it felt wrong not to take advantage of it,” she said.
A group of Douglas students became unlikely yet powerful spokespersons for gun reform after Nikolas Cruz, one of their former classmates, shot and killed 17 people.
Abzug came up with a three-point plan that he brought to his state representatives. It includes a ban on assault weapons, the creation of an agency that facilitates interaction between the FBI and local law enforcement, and the mandatory placement of psychologists in every school to “boost the morale of students so that people who are young don’t grow up to be so hateful of the world.”

New multibilllion dollar a year government agency to do what the FBI , DHS ( created to the job the FBI was not doing) , DOJ, BATF, Local sheriff, local police, local school board, and school principle are supposed to do but are failing at , all to try (and fail) to prevent very rare and random but tragic school shooting that occurs once every three or four years
Put a psychiatrist in each to monitor and indoctrinate students
What a great solution to gun free safe utopia- until the next alienated and over medicated nut job student rents a 24 ft Ryder Truck and fills it with drums of gasoline and rams it into a group of students at high speed during lunch time and blows it up, killing and injuring hundreds.
Fact is, guns are a real inefficient tool for mass murder

Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School student Colton Haab said he was approached by CNN to ask a question at Wednesday night's town hall but decided not to after the network gave him a "scripted question," quashing one he wrote himself. Haab, a member of the Junior ROTC shielded students while the school was under attack from the shooter, said he was going to ask about using veterans as armed security guards.
"CNN had originally asked me to write a speech and questions and it ended up being all scripted," Haab told WPLG-TV.
CNN aired a town hall on the Florida school shooting with Sens. Marco Rubio (R-FL) and Bill Nelson (D-FL) that included NRA's Dana Loesch and Broward County Sheriff Scott Israel that was moderated by Jake Tapper. Students and parents asked questions about gun control and school safety.

In 2013, the Broward County School Board, in collusion with Eric Holder and the Obama Administration, put in place policies to prevent crimes comitted by minority students in school from being reported to the police!!!
Cruz was considered minority due to his last name. He previously brought bullets in his backpack! He comitted numerous crimes on school grounds, was caught, and never reported to police. They weren’t allowed to!
