Being shot at doesn’t make you an expert on ending gun violence

Being a shooting victim doesnt make you an expert on ending gun violence. But you wouldnt know that from watching CNN.
Its been a week since a monster killed 17 people at a Florida high school. The calls for gun control have been reflexive and ambiguous, but the media have found a new mouthpiece shooting survivors.
Students seize control of gun debate blared a MSNBC caption. An organization portraying itself as being made up of students announced a March 24 rally in D.C. and other cities called March For Our Lives. Some students say they wont return to class until gun-control legislation has been passed. Videos of shooting survivors calling for gun control have gone viral.
Interviewing shooting survivors makes for compelling television, but its a horrible way to conduct a reasoned debate. Experiencing a tragic event doesnt transform you into an expert, in the same way having a brain injury doesnt make you a brain surgeon.

Exactly. Remember, the majority of these people driving this from behind think Saul Alinsky is a fine fellow.
To THOSE types of people, this is time to grab these teenagers with both hands, fill their heads with leftist tripe, and put them in front of cameras that are flocking to them.
The important thing to remember about these people exploiting these kids is:
To them, fixing the issue is not the goal. They want to inflame the issue. They WANT it to remain "unfixed". That is Alinsky 101.

Well it worked well so far.
Next school shooting CNN will have the kids stand on the victims corpses for their interviews.

Increase the age to buy a weapon to 21 ? Why not increase it and the age to vote to 25 ?Many more students die from texting and driving. We should increase the age for smart phones to 23.

“Gun violence?” Editors and journalists are using more alien terminology now. Looks like propaganda from old Europe.

No argument there. But it’s not a winning strategy in this instance.

True. CNN should be condemned for ‘never letting a crisis go to waste’... and this time on the backs of grieving students and their heartbroken parents.

Probably not. Of course, I don’t even think there is such a thing as “gun violence”. There is just violence. There is criminal violence, and there is violence engaged in for self-defense, but a gun is not capable of engaging in violence.
“Gun-Free Zones” are seldom gun-free - and they are never free.

Better to leave Trump do the talking, then. He’s a great screw driver. When he screws ‘em, they’re screwed.

Smarter than me, too. I see and understand what he’s doing, and I’m loving it, but I couldn’t do that. It’s a combination of moxy and strategic thinking and street smarts on an advanced level. We’re watching parts of the “art of the deal” in action that he never wrote down. My hero.
