Being a shooting victim doesnt make you an expert on ending gun violence. But you wouldnt know that from watching CNN.
Its been a week since a monster killed 17 people at a Florida high school. The calls for gun control have been reflexive and ambiguous, but the media have found a new mouthpiece shooting survivors.
Students seize control of gun debate blared a MSNBC caption. An organization portraying itself as being made up of students announced a March 24 rally in D.C. and other cities called March For Our Lives. Some students say they wont return to class until gun-control legislation has been passed. Videos of shooting survivors calling for gun control have gone viral.
Interviewing shooting survivors makes for compelling television, but its a horrible way to conduct a reasoned debate. Experiencing a tragic event doesnt transform you into an expert, in the same way having a brain injury doesnt make you a brain surgeon.

Yup, being in a car wreck doesn’t suddenly turn you into a mechanic.
We need to know the type of Meds he was on, was he addicted to porn, Social Media or video games, etc.
I wonder if the kids would be willing to give up the Internet if we found out that it was a factor in these killings.
Who is paying for the buses?
I’m sure CNN is on it! They will inform US! /s
If their anger and grief were genuine it would be directed at everything involved, not just “guns”. Instead there is zero anger toward the killer or the fbi
A cat can give birth to kittens in an oven but that don’t make’em a biscuit!
Hahaha. :)
Fish don't fry in the kitchen, Beans don't burn on the grill.
If any of the other high schools south along Pine Island Road for 10 miles had been hit, CNN would be struggling to find articulate students to front for them.

Not to worry, CNN will bring their crisis actor hires, like Hogg.
I have been both shot at and hit and shot at and missed. Years apart and at different residences. Only thing in common was that I had the necessary tools to return fire. I am here and the bad guys aren't. I don't live in a gun free zone!!
I do still live.
Also, there are kids that were simply on campus -somewhere- that are now treated as little combat vets. Imagine a large high school that size. We are probably being lectured by some kids who were in another building...100yrds plus away.
Liberals simultaneously believe that:
Trump is Hitler and he should take their guns away.
That you should be at least 25 to buy a gun but are mature enough at 16 to vote.
That 5 years old is too young to decide what an appropriate bed time, but old enough to make a decision that will alter the rest of their lives.
I like that one!
Online education is safer. End the government monopoly of, "schools".
Well I don't see why not. Being a movie actor in a movie about space travel makes you an expert in... space travel.
The next time some wacko drives 90 mph down the wrong way of a street crashing into cars and killing people, lets ignore the crazy and demand stronger traffic laws.
yep
I wonder if any of these kids in the public eye were even anywhere close to the actual shooting. If so, how close?
