Butler County, Ohio, Sheriff Richard K. Jones offered free concealed carry training for 50 teachers and 250 teachers responded within 24 hours.
Breitbart News reported that Jones began advertising the free training on Sunday and the immediate response was 50 emails within 20 minutes:
On February 20 Fox 91 reported the response had jumped to 250 teachers who wanted training. Jones reveled in the opportunity to instruct them, saying, We have 250 and growing fast. We will start training fast, next week.
He stressed that he wants teachers to understand what they can do with a gun if an armed attacker enters the classroom. And while he cannot delegate the authority for teachers to carry on a given campusthat is a school board decisionJones said he wants the teachers to be ready if their school board so chooses.

I think a school would have to be very careful about who was armed, but such a thing could be earned by the most responsible students (and then with much training to prepare them).
Teachers need to demand armed teachers and other personnel as well as enhanced access restrictions.
The nerds and the jocks will take to it (for different reasons).
So I will defer to your judgment in such matters.
You might be on to something here.
20 pissed off kids with wristrockets and marbles could probably bring down or kill your average shooter....not to mention also arming the teacher.
Well, it’s better than nothing.;-)
Have you ever shot a wristrocket?
No. Should I get one?
I think it could put a lead ball through a skull. You can also shoot arrows with one.
It’s just an aluminum frame that lops over the top of your wrist, with surgical tubing to provide the snap.
Probably about 20 bucks.
Well if the shooting as already started id say yes
That would stop a school shooter dead.
Will you do it?
Damn right the kids would target practice. It also might turn boys back into boys.
We need to start a campaign.
It’s like all the ‘volunteer’s who offered to drive the Amish to the polling places when Trump won Penn., Ohio.
As an aside, this could stop a school shooting in its tracks.
Five or more of them definitely would. The guy wouldn’t even know what hit him.
After the first strike, he’d be holding his head, or just fall to the floor. And after the subsequent hits, if it didn’t kill him, it would probably be the most painful experience one could imagine, like losing a limb or breaking a leg.
“OK kids, you can stop firing now”
(but would they)
Schools need air marshals in place like they were put on planes after 911.
This would stop the up close and personal shootings.
Argile Texas arms teachers and other staff who are trained by the police. They also post signs telling people that they have armed adults who will use all the force needed to protect the students. Their schools are not soft targets.
Rooster, I understand both your advocacy and the points you touched on here. I agree with what you said there.
I will say that I was never instructed concerning lethal force.
As a kid I could walk down the street and have absolutely no fear of a drive by, being kidnapped, or being sexually exploited. While some of those could have taken place back then, the incidents of them were very few.
Kids were taught to respect their elders. My grand-parents told me, if you get a spanking at school, you get one guess what you get when you get home.
There was a right from wrong. There was a Golden Rule.
I had access to our 22s back on the farm. I loved that old Remington pump “model early 1900s”. I’m going to purchase one, one of these days. I miss it. We had a single shot 22 there also. I now have a picture of my father with it at age 10.
So I could walk around on the farm using our 22. I never fired that thing in the direction of neighbors homes. Our farm was 120 acres. We had some breathing room, but I never took chances.
As you related, we live in different times.
