Billionaire Bill Gates Says He Should Pay 'Significantly higher' Taxes
CNN ^ | Sun February 18, 2018

Microsoft founder and billionaire Bill Gates says he should pay more in taxes and that the government should require other superwealthy people like him to contribute "significantly higher" amounts.

"I need to pay higher taxes," Gates, who is worth over $90 billion, said in an interview with CNN's Fareed Zakaria on Sunday.

"I've paid more taxes, over $10 billion, than anyone else, but the government should require the people in my position to pay significantly higher taxes," he said.

Gates, the second richest man in the world after Amazon's Jeff Bezos, didn't mince his words when it came to the GOP tax law, which cut taxes for corporations.

Liberalspeak: "I need to pay higher taxes."

Real world translation: "You need to pay higher taxes."

The rest of us disagree Bill, but you go ahead. Funny between his trusts and his philanthropy, it appears he is doing his very best to manage the money he made and not turn it over to the government....for them to fritter away.

The government could confiscate the wealth of the 1% and it wouldn’t do crap. Maybe lower the debt a bit, but not much.

I do not believe that ‘gifts’ to the United States of America by US citizens are against the law. If they are, then the law needs to change, IMO.

Billy boy, if you want to give more money to the US than you already pay in taxes, feel free to do so. Don’t just run your mouth. As a character played by an over rated actor once said, “Show me the money!”

Talk is cheap, Billy boy. Put your money where your mouth is!

RE: Billionaire Bill Gates Says He Should Pay ‘Significantly higher’ Taxes.

If by that, he means that the government should get more of his money, I don’t see how anything is stopping him from doing that.

If you want to make a voluntary contribution to the US government, you can do so by sending a separate payment to the Treasury via the Bureau of the Fiscal Service with the notation that it be used to “reduce the debt held by the public”.

You may deduct (as a charitable donation) a gift to the government to reduce the debt.

SEE HERE:

https://www.treasurydirect.gov/govt/reports/pd/gift/gift.htm

So, Bill and Melinda could tax themselves silly if they wanted to.

You can also decline to take advantage of deductions and pay a higher rate than necessary.

Here ya go, Billy. Pass this on to your lawyers and accountants. Tell 'em to break out the checkbook.

How do you make a contribution to reduce the debt?

There are two ways for you to make a contribution to reduce the debt:

He’s right in a way. He should not pay a higher percentage of tax for being rich or making more money than others. He should pay more for being a Socialist.
