Tests are never 100% accurate.

Screening is essential.

Are you willing to play Russian Roulette with people in need of blood products all for the benefit of someone else’s self gratification?

I have given over 2 gallons of blood. About six years ago I developed an Idiopathic disorder of the blood. It just came out of nowhere. Nothing I did caused the disorder.

I am no longer able to donate. I don’t feel discriminated against.

The Red Cross questionnaire has gone from asking men if they have had sexual contact with another male since 1977 to asking if they have had such contact in the last 12 months. I doubt that is as safe as they pretend...and gays can easily lie about how long ago their last contact was.

I am a 12-gallon donor but for several years I could not give blood when they had the six-months-in-Europe since Jan. 1980 rule (I had spent 7 months in Europe in 1980), but now they have changed it to 5 years. Meanwhile, Europeans can donate blood in Europe.
