Back in October, after the Las Vegas Shooting, New York Times columnist Bret Stephens argued that the Second Amendment should be repealed. Since Wednesday's shooting in South Florida, Stephens' OpEd has re-circulated across social media, which eventually led to another OpEd pushing for repealing the Second Amendment.
Then there are the endless liberal errors of fact. There is no gun-show loophole per se; its a private-sale loophole, in other words the right to sell your own stuff. The civilian AR-15 is not a true assault rifle, and banning such rifles would have little effect on the overall murder rate, since most homicides are committed with handguns. Its not true that 40 percent of gun owners buy without a background check; the real number is closer to one-fifth.

Let’s overturn anchor babies first.
I really don’t have a problem with liberals attempting to repeal the 2nd Amendment as long as they follow the path laid out in the Constitution. Where I have a problem is when they try to redefine what the 2nd Amendment says, ie, collective right protecting the national guard rather than RKBA.
However, most liberals will tell you that they think amending the Constitution to remove the 2nd Amendment is too difficult. Therefore, they want to redefine what the 2nd Amendment says.
Let’s not.
“NYT Columnist: Let’s Repeal the Second Amendment”
I LIKE IT!!!
Not because I want the 2A repealed, but because it concedes that the Second Amendment DOES confer individual gun rights. That is a HUGE STEP for a liberal to take. It also puts to bed the claim that their gun control proposals have anything at all to do with ‘gun safety’.
As to repealing it - sure, give it a shot. I will, of course, fight that effort, but I respect the Constitution enough that if gun-grabbers were to change it...I would accept that. But nothing short of changing the Constitution.
Introduce a Constitutional amendment in the House and the Senate repealing the Second Amendment.
Hell, I'll even draft it:
Amendment XXVIII:
1. The Second Amendment to this Constitution is hereby repealed.
2. Congress shall have the power to regulate or forbid the manufacture, importation, sales, transfer, or possession of firearms.
3. From the date this Amendment is ratified, Congress shall have the power to confiscate all firearms within the United States without compensation.
4. Congress may enforce the provisions of this Amendment by appropriate legislation, any State laws to the contrary not withstanding.
5. The appellate jurisdiction of the Supreme Court shall not extend to any laws passed by Congress under this amendment.
There. I would introduce this amendment tomorrow, just to help out these public-minded citizens like Bret Stephens if I were in Congress.
Of course, there may not be 67 votes in the Senate for this. There may not be 291 votes in the House. And, in the event that there were, it is perhaps unlikely that 38 State Legislatures or conventions would ratify it.
What then, Mr. Bigmouth Bret Stephens?
We don’t noticibly enforce any law with respect to schizoid loons who are breaking the law left and right and who are proclaiming their intent to violence to whomever will listen...but let’s disarm the potential victims. Sorry NYT it ain’t 1970 anymore. Gun control ain’t happening.
Lets put all the lib journalists (journalists aren’t reporters, they’re little whiny 12 year old writing in their diaries) in the public stocks until they grow up and learn lying is wrong.
It is undoubtedly true that all citizens capable of bearing arms constitute the reserved military force or reserve militia of the United States as well as of the states, and, in view of this prerogative of the general government, as well as of its general powers, the states cannot, even laying the constitutional provision in question [the 2nd amendment] out of view, prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms so as to deprive the United States of their rightful resource for maintaining the public security, and disable the people from performing their duty to the general government.
By the way, Federal judges claim that this case stands for the proposition that states may prohibit the people from keeping and bearing arms.
Cute trick.
“Our right to bear arms exists and is constitutionally protected with or without the 2nd Amendment.”
So we think. People in Canada and the UK never saw a need for a 1st Amendment - and now it’s too late. Say the wrong thing about the ‘sensitive’ group, and you’re fined, fired, or jailed.
I know what you’re saying about pre-emption - but that’s a joke anyway...just having Social Security shows that.
Might it be better for those state who might still revile the constitution to demand that these certain states get to FO of the union?
Say, the northeast and the left coast?
NYT Columnist: Pro Hitler it’s all about control.
They aren't liberals anymore in the classic sense - they are full on radical activists/socialists/communists. As such they are domestic enemies and will have to be dealt with at some time in the future. They want to destroy our Sacred Republic. We say No! The 2nd Amendment and a well regulated militia are the only things in their path and We the People are not budging. Want to fight libs? Bring it on!
Your opinion is not callous.
Children are slaughtered every day in places that for all intent and purpose have eradicated the Second Amendment and they have been Blessed by our Courts for doing just that.
How many things claim the lives of Children?
In order of appearance I will say (1) Planned Parenthood, (2) Motor Vehicles and (3) Swimming Pools, none of which appear in our Constitution.
Two of the three are things are what a Free People choose to own and operate. The other one is simply Murder which has been Illegal since the Dawn of Human Civilization.
The ultimate cause of Death for Children in this Country can be summed up in one word, LIBERALISM.
Let’s repeal the First Amendment, so twits like this cannot stand on the public soapbox and spew their stupidity.
I did post Laz’s flow chart on my FB...
