Russia Launches ‘Information’ War, U.S. Responds with Lawsuit and Self-Destruction
National Review ^ | 2/17/2018 | Andrew McCarthy

Mueller’s indictment is an ineffectual response to a provocation by Russia.

The Russians are engaged in “information warfare” against the United States. That was the big soundbite at Deputy Attorney General Rod Rosenstein’s press conference Friday afternoon, announcing Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s election-meddling indictment against 13 Russians and three Russian businesses.

That is certainly a fair assessment of what the indictment alleges. The account is disturbing, but its form leaves many of us underwhelmed. Our government says Russia is levying war. It is attacking a foundational institution — the electoral system of our democratic society and, more basically, our society’s cohesion as such. Our response should not be, nor appear to be, the filing of a lawsuit. That is provocatively weak.

-- For the Ruling Class, it's always and only about "who" and "whom." --

Selective persecution, it's the American way. The best banana republic that money can buy, press included for no extra charge.

This country is so polarized, it doesn’t take much to push us over the edge.

Yep. Sense of proportion deliberately omitted. 13 Russian trolls for Trump (as though even that is true) is the same as the weight of the US/CIA press apparatus plus Mexico, plus Canada, plus EU, plus plus plus advancing Hillary.

Abuse of the law to advance a political agenda, and the players in the legal system are major offenders, hypertechnical on one hand, and (ab)use of discretion on the other.

The law, as with any tool (see baseball bat) admits criminal misuse.

Coming soon from Adam Schiff, Nancy Pelosi and Chuck Schumer: proposed legislation requiring all Americans to identify themselves to the government before expressing any opinion on the internet, to protect American democracy from the mortal dangers of Russian bots and trolls demonstrated so alarmingly by Bob Mueller’s investigation.

No doubt they are working hard on a catchy acronym for the bill, which will be co-sponsored by John McCain and Lindsey Graham.

The courts will be right there explaining how this is clear with the 1st amendment.

How can any one of us be sure we are not Hillary Clinton fanantics who were brainwashed by those unrelenting “Vote Trump” Russian bot Facebook ads? It’s quite unnerving....

Another excellent analysis by Andy McCarthy. He’s no fan of President Trump, but his writing is unfailingly unbiased. And brilliant.

Foreign entities always try to meddle in our elections. We meddle in theirs. Nothing new.

How much taxpayer money was thrown down that particular rabbit hole?

In other news Mueller plans to indict the Easter Bunny.

Why?

Who knows—just because he feels like it.

Mueller’s indictment cobbled together narratives from (a) a 2015 Radio Free Europe report, and, (b) the October Russian Business Magazine (RBC).

Let’s consider the obvious——he had the documents even BEFORE he indicted the 13 Russians.

A clear case of Mueller making the crime fit the narrative.
